The sun must have been nice to be out in cold weather

As the alpha tom, Toes doesn’t have friends to help with warming, so the sun is a real comfort for him.

Well, at least it isn’t Fairbanks, AK. -17F right now according to your widget on the right sidebar? Brrrrr!

My guys are finding it a bit chilly in the early mornings too, but that’s because they’re wusses. But they assume that same pose on their cat beds, wherever those be.

The ‘tell’ is the use of the tail to cover the nose, the cats only do that when it’s cold.

The Norwegian Forest Cat and the Siberian Cat are designed to deal with the inconvenience of minus temperatures – it’s the heat that gets them.

Yes, my guys either bury their noses in their tail, or in each other. I’m not quite sure how that latter works, but somehow they manage to get their noses into the other cat’s fur anyhow, in some geometrically impossible manner given that they’re *also* curled up like a pair of lozenges.

The tip of the nose and the pads on their feet are the only exposed skin that cats normally have, so they work to cover them n the cold. Maine Coon, Forest Cats, and Siberians have really furry toes to protect their pads when they have to walk in the snow.

Yes, is doesn’t do to try to figure out the geometry of a pile of cold cats.
