Reefer Madness 2.0

The CBC notes that Bizarre ‘Stoner Sloth’ anti-marijuana campaign delights the internet. You really need to watch the unaltered version at the top of the post which are the official PSAs [Public Service Announcements for those who have never worked in Public Relations] of the government of New South Wales, Australia. Later in the article they have the ‘creatively edited’ versions.

An Australian writer at the ABC notes that Stoner Sloth is a symptom of our inept drug debate. Actually this is the result of refusing to study the actual effects of various drugs, i.e. the result of ignorance.

PMSL! I was thinking of posting this, you beat me to it! Best laugh this weeek!

Just about everyone who went to Uni in the past 60 years or more was a pothead! Hell, I helped start the Student Union at my Uni so we could organize BBQ’s & parties on Fri afternoon (Fri. was usually a half-day.) We had a lot of fun and we were usually stoned and listening to Tangerine Dream, Donovan, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Easybeats etc. They all sounded better stoned. 😉 😀 Heh, I no longer get high, but I still like the music. I still have all the vinyl kept safely in an airtight/waterproof aluminium case.

I wen’t to my Uni about a decade ago to do a business management course. I was horrified to see the Student Union I helped create had their own building, and a whole ton of *rules* and had posters about things like politics, human rights, drugs are bad, meetings… But nothing about parties or fun! WTF is wrong with kid’s today?! We had one rule: you didn’t pay your $5/mth dues, you didn’t get to party! We were also somewhat selective about who could join. We didn’t allow uptight holier than thou types.

Of course, they still do it, but in secret! When we did it, it was out in the open & everyone was cool with it. We had nothing to hide.

Obviously, the sanctimonious hypocrites (the holier than thou uptite jerks) are running things and have a serious grudge after all this time because we wouldn’t let them in to spoil our fun!

Typical.

Kryten, I don’t know about there, but I know the college atmosphere here in the States has become rather glum and fun-free because the students are looking at their (non-dischargable-via-bankruptcy) student loan bills and realizing that they’re going to be paying on these things for the rest of their lives — yes, even their Social Security checks will be dunned when they retire. And that if they get arrested for marijuana, they’ll get kicked out of college and won’t even have a college degree to use to try to pay off those hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I compare the atmosphere on campus to when I first went to school in the early 80’s, where tuition could be paid by working a summer job and if you were poor it was paid by the government anyhow, and it’s really depressing. Yes, we partied hard back then. Well, some people did. I didn’t, but I had other priorities.

Nearly anyone who wanted to could afford to go to school in the late 1960s and 70s. You couldn’t always get into the schools that you were qualified for, but you could go and make out with a summer job. These days you need a full-time job, grants, and loans to make it through and have no guarantee that you will ever be out of debt or be able to retire.

I didn’t use anything, but you couldn’t avoid a contact buzz in the 60s & 70s. You have to inhale to stay alive, and if you inhaled some of what you inhaled was almost certainly marijuana.

Legalize it and tax it like alcohol. We need to stop wasting money and ruining lives over this stuff.

Of course, the really funny thing is that Prez Obama was stoned a lot. 😀

BARACK OBAMA USED TO BE A MASSIVE STONER

Just saying.;) BTW… I’m certain it’s safe to say he’s not the only one. Though I suspect cocaine is the preferred choice umong the Illuminati! (Actually, thanks to my time in the USA, I know it is.) LOL

Same here just BYW. 😉

Hey, with0ut ladies of negotiable affection and snow from the Andes, nothing would ever happen in the financial industry.

The problem is that only those who have never used drugs are allowed to advocate legalizing them in US politics. No, it doesn’t make any sense, but it is the way it is in a system that allows scum like Trump float to the top in a Presidential primary.
