The BBC reports US military drops ‘mother of all bombs on IS’ in Afghanistan and provides a video of them blowing up nothing out at Range 70 on Eglin AFB.
I located a History channel video of the test with more explanation of what the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb is: a 30 feet long aluminum tube, about 3½ feet in diameter and packed with 11 tons of TNT. It is carried by an MC-130 of AF Special Operations Command and deployed out the rear ramp.
I was 15 miles away when they tested the thing down here and I could feel it as well as hear it. It is a very special purpose anti-personnel weapon that is only really effective in canyons or tunnels networks.

I feel it when the miners out in the desert are blasting with far less TNT. I can only imagine what 11 tons of TNT would make the desert do…
As a result of the MOAB strike do you think Trump has lit up Trump towers or Mar-A-Lago as targets? I would not stay at any Trump resort, even if I liked the goof. I think that’s whats termed a “Target rich environment”.
You have rock out in the desert, we have sand under the sand with some red clay, so I thought it was at one of the closer ranges, not in the next county.
He has a labeled hotel or two around the Persian Gulf, Shirt, and I wouldn’t even consider staying in one. He has made his brand a target and many of them are in less than stable countries.
