Trump Is Irrelevant

US can fulfill pledges, says Michael Bloomberg:

The US can still meet its commitments to fight climate change, despite President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris accord, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said.

He argued this could be done “through partnerships among cities, states and businesses”, saying Americans would not let Washington stand in their way.

Mr Bloomberg is the UN special envoy for cities and climate change.

Bloomberg’s foundation is going to cover the $15 million US commitment to funding the UN program created by the Paris agreement and he is already building a coalition of cities, states and businesses to honor the reduction pledges that the US made.

Digby noted The Weather Channel’s frontpage when they reported Trump’s withdrawal. They didn’t hold back any of the facts that support global climate change and buried him under a landslide of facts and charts. It does no good because he doesn’t read and only watches Fox News.

You and I are living on what will be the floor of the Gulf/Bay of Mexico by the end of the century and can already see the changes. If the senile schmuck would have paid attention at what has happened in Palm Beach since he bought Mar-a-Lago he would know that climate change is happening and he should get a place in Kansas and move everything of value to higher ground. He won’t admit a mistake so it will be another failed Trump project.

here’s the latest & clearest (sic) article I’ve seen in the Trump NATO train wreck!

Trump National Security Team Blindsided by NATO Speech

And it suggests Trump’s impulsive instincts on foreign policy are not necessarily going to be contained by the team of experienced leaders he’s hired for Defense, the NSC and State. “We’re all seeing the fallout from it—and all the fallout was anticipated,” the White House official told me.

They may be the “adults in the room,” as the saying going around Washington these past few months had it. But Trump—and the NATO case shows this all too clearly—isn’t in the room with them.

Funny, some of us have been saying that since the election! Even before… *shrug* “Stupid is, as stupid does!” (And I don’t just mean trump!)

That NATO speech contained huge chunks from the speech he made to Congress at the end of February. Both contained that same total misunderstanding of what NATO is and how it is funded. He seems to believe that NATO has been hiring the US for protection. He doesn’t understand how anything works, or who pays the bills. He does not read, and does not listen when people try to explain.
