They Don’t Learn

Faux News talking head Laura Ingraham decided to give David Hogg a hard time. David has been turned down by several universities, despite having a 4+ GPA. It was a major mistake on Ingraham’s part.

First she got a talking to from David’s little sister who told her to try acting like an adult. Then David posted a list of Ingraham’s advertisers and suggested people call them. This is a technique refined by Spocko to deal with media bullies. Surprise, Ms Ingraham decided to apologize “because it was Holy Week”. David wasn’t buying it, and didn’t back down on his campaign.

GOP strategist Steve Schmidt applauded David’s courage in counterattacking, noting that most GOP politicians hide when someone on Faux News bad-mouths them. Schmidt makes the point that after you have survived a fire fight, snide remarks don’t have much effect.

Being mean to children is not a good look. Ever. Agree or disagree with them, but being mean to them just makes you look like child-abusing dirtbags. And advertisers don’t want to be associated with child-abusing dirtbags. I think Laura Ingraham is about to find out that no number of apologies that she issues will ever make her look like something other than a child-abusing dirtbag to advertisers. Once a child-abusing dirtbag, always a child-abusing dirtbag.

They keep acting like David Hogg doesn’t know how things work. He has a few years of media work at high school and is planning on majoring in the field at college. He has already shown that he doesn’t get mad, he gets even. He has used negative comments as a way of boosting his Twitter profile.

He has been on a couple of Faux News shows to push gun control and doesn’t scare worth a damn. Attacking him is as stupid as it gets. Emma Gonzales ignores critics, but David goes for the throat. Punching down is not good for public figures. Companies don’t want to associate their brands with controversy. Just look at what happened with the NFL-Papa John’s deal when the founder of Papa John’s decided to get too political.

As you point out abusing children is not going to help the bottem line of your advertisers.

Yeah you don’t beat up on children … especially someone else’s kid!
AND … affluent white kids are the children of affluent white adults … who the advertisers want to do business with!
This is what is known as a “DUH!” moment for Ingraham AND Fox.
Wonder how many advertisers have to leave BEFORE Fox management decide SHE is needs to spend more time WITH her kids!

David Hogg’s father is a retired FBI agent. Something that people should keep in mind before bad-mouthing his kid.

The spot she has in the line-up is because sponsors dropped Bill O’Reilly, so if she loses money for the network, she goes.

Actually she will be spending more time with her attorneys because LeBron James id sueing her over comments she made about him.

David does need to be a bit more careful though. He’s played loose with a few facts recently. I hope his Dad explains that playing the oppositions game isn’t going to work for him. I do understand that he’s young, angry & full of fire. Just needs to double check his facts & be a little more careful. 🙂

You know those 60 Russian Diplomat’s US expelled? I was super suspicious about that! Seems I was right to be…

“Russia’s state TV reports that an unnamed high-level White House source quietly told the Russians that the number of Russian diplomats in the U.S. is not being cut (they can send 60 other diplomats to replace the ones being expelled). They quote the source: “The doors are open.”

Want to test your Russian Bryan? 😉 I only have the original Russian vid via YT & the Russian news source:

60 минут. Доска позора: как Лондон накажет неприсоединившиеся к нему страны?

Ответ не заставил себя ждать: Москва вызвала посла США, Вашингтон оставил дверь открытой

Drat! Meant to add:

After her insincere apology, David tweeted:

“I 100% agree an apology in an effort just to save your advertisers is not enough. I will only accept your apology only if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight. It’s time to love thy neighbor, not mudsling at children.”

So far, 16 companies have stopped advertising on Ingraham’s show. Including some of her biggest advertisers. The latest being the Ruby Tuesday chain after many people tweeted to them like this: “@rubytuesday I will not be eating at your restaurants while you continue to advertise on @IngrahamAngle show.”

New Update: Laura Ingraham announced on tonight’s show that she would take next week off and be replaced by “a great lineup of guest hosts”

Aha. 😉 😀

A friend sent me a link to this MSNBC interview with Steve Schmidt by Nicolle Wallace on the Ingraham train wreck. I think they nailed it!

Another example of an adult acting terribly

There are a few other Vid’s that that I enjoyed also! 😉 😀

Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace

Kudos to David Hogg and Boo-Hiss to Laura Ingraham.

However, one should be careful about referring to the MSD survivors as Children. Some of these “kids” will be voting in the 2020 Presidential Election, and likely -all- of them will be voting in the 2024 Election.

It’s not nice to piss off future voters!

While you are correct about what the Russian media is saying about the “open door”, it wasn’t just the 60 ‘diplomats’, the Seattle consulate was also closed, so those positions have been eliminated. Further, we don’t currently have a Secretary of State/foreign minister so new diplomats face a delay in getting credentials for the US. We don’t have a foreign policy and two-thirds of the countries don’t have a US ambassador, so the lack of an administrator at the State Department isn’t as bad as it good be.

One of the ‘guest hosts’ make be getting a show in primetime on Faux. The week is to negotiate Ingraham’s demotion or ‘retirement’. There is following the O’Reilly pattern.

David is usually careful, and spent a lot of time studying the gun issue before this incident in preparation for a scholastic debate on gun control. The teams don’t know which side they will argue, so they have to prepare for both. I assume his father helped him out by pointing to resources for his preparation. On guns, because of laws enacted at the urging of the NRA there really is little unbiased research. Without the funding that the NRA’s laws blocked, the NRA & gun industry are the only sources for academic research.

Anya, New York refers to to those under 17 years as ‘infants’ in the Penal Law and under 18 are grouped as ‘minors’. Kids is not a bad thing. For me it covers anyone under 40. 😉

Until they reach age 18, they are legally classified as children in the state of California. That is a factor in the Great Russian Novel that I’m currently writing, in the state of California (where it is set) it isn’t even legal for two teenagers the same age under age 18 to have sex with each other. Legally, it’s still statutory rape, though in most cases deciding which one is the perpetrator and which one is the victim becomes iffy (if the boy is black and the girl is white, on the other hand, it’s always the boy who’s prosecuted, go figure… it’s always racist parents who call in the cops on those particular cases). Now, I think we know that 16 and 17 year olds are going to be having sex with each other, but California law treats them as children.

The reality is that most of us over age 50 think of anybody under age 20 as children anyhow, so (shrug).

12 Bryan { 04.01.18 at 7:39 pm }

In New York the age of consent is 16 and the Statutory Rape law doesn’t kick in unless one of the couple is 18 or older ; or one is more than two years older than the other, i.e. 17-15 legal but 18-15 or 17-14 illegal. We all know that as soon as the hormones kick in everyone is looking for sex, which starts in middle school.

Yes, the California situation is crazy. It lends itself too much to selective prosecution, especially in the case where race comes into play. It becomes a way for parents with political influence to criminalize someone “undesirable” dating their daughter. When everybody under age 18 is technically a criminal, there is no justice, only personal vendettas and political influence.

In other news, I was amused to find that Florida is even more redneck than Louisiana. Having a baby with your own brother? But my mother says that yes, one relative in our family tree in Louisiana did marry her own cousin. The baby turned out fine though. Maybe. Given our family tree, “normal” may be relative.

14 Bryan { 04.02.18 at 11:55 am }

In my family I don’t know that any of my relatives are “normal”. 😈
