Not Great

The Defense Department annouced Two military bases to house migrants.

Fort Bliss is a huge Army installation that straddles the Texas-New Mexico border near El Paso. Lots of space and lots of people near a city on the US-Mexican border. A very logical choice.

Goodfellow AFB near San Angelo, Texas is not that big, nor is San Angelo, and having civilians on the base bothers me. I was stationed there and know what goes on. Nothing on the base involves weapons, but people without clearances on base is a problem.

The thing is putting these facilities on military bases severely restricts access and eliminates oversight by state child welfare agencies. If access to current facilities is limited, it is nothing like the restrictions on these facilities. It is safe to assume that this is intentional.

Why doesn’t the Posse Comitatus apply? According to Wiki:

Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly
authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any
part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise

Fort Bliss is part of the army, or so I’ve heard and holding those charged with a federal misdemeanor seems like they are abusing the army. I wonder what kind of service pin they’re going to give for that stern duty. Perhaps a Rottweiler Head argent with ruby canines?

I’m really super pissed about this. I’m an immigrant and I was 8 years old when we came here. Immigration, under the best of circumstances, is not easy. And if it were up to us kids we’d still be the Netherlands. Being torn away from your parents has got to be a horror!

If I had my druthers I would be in Amsterdam, my favorite place in the world even with the spiral staircases to the toilet in bars. My Dutch ancestor came over in the 1600s to New Holland. OTOH, both of my grandfathers were first generation Americans. Both of my grandmothers’ families go back to before the Revolution.

Here’s the deal – this is all Federal. The Posse Comitatus Act dealt with using the military for state functions, specifically law enforcement. While the bases are military, the military won’t be providing much beyond the land for the camps. There are a lot of Hispanics in the military and this won’t be popular with them or their families.

There’s always Transylvania (you know I love that place!) Cluj (the capitol) has been winning a swag of European awards, like the ones the USA doesn’t.

1. European Youth Capital in 2015

European Youth Forum awarded Cluj-Napoca the title of European Youth Capital in 2015. This strategic program represents an important step for our city towards the title of European Capital of Culture in 2021.

I’m too short. I really would look like a bald penguin in white-tie and tails. Besides they probably don’t make ‘toasties’ in Transylvanian bars. 😈

I just saw an *interview* of another new FL candidate running for FL15, by the name of Andrew Learned, a recent veteran. He sounds pretty good, do you know anything about him?

You can read the “10 Questions* interview here (on my twitter feed):

I meant to post this yesterday.

A YT video interview of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (the new NY14 Democrat candidate). It’s refreshing. 🙂

(Try with the bare link).

OK… So that works now. *sigh*

The 15th is an open seat. The current Gop Congresscritter “retired” so Learned has a good shot, but the Republicans will attack his ‘patriotism’ because he won’t support Trump, it’s what they do.

Ocasio-Cortez looks like NY-14, just like Joe Crowley did when he was first elected to the seat. Crowley decided that rising in the party caucus was more important than providing services to his constituents and they showed their disapproval. Ocasio-Cortez speaks Spanish as well as English and Crowley didn’t make an effort to learn. Puerto Ricans are US citizens but many only speak Spanish. If you are going to represent NY-14 you need Spanish now.

Actually the blog has all three of the comments that you posted as well as the comment about post three times. They are in the “Trash” file and I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on.

No typos or syntax errors, the link works, all of the ID fields including IP address are identical. Your Cluj comment came through with a link. The only realistic conclusion is my site is bipolar about you and you tried posting during a hate cycle. 😈

Yep! Your blog hates me now & then for whatever reason! I’m used to it. *shrug* 😉 😀

The Red Hen will now get inches in publications that it could never afford to buy ads in. This from a clown who has spent most of his life trying to get mentioned in tabloids for free.

😆 😆

No doubt you’ve seen this one about Dotard being punked on AF1 by an old friend whose voice he didn’t recognise?

Donald Trump ‘spoke from Air Force One to prank caller for almost four minutes, didn’t realise’

Then this:
Trump Prankster Claims He Got a Late Night Visit from the Secret Service — And Now He’s on the Run

(I don’t believe for a second about him *being on the run* or about Avenatti. The guy is a GOP supporter & former Howard Stern sidekick, so would say/do anything for attention. Still… It is funny! 😆

13 Bryan { 07.01.18 at 9:40 pm }

He probably did get a visit from the Secret Service. Trump wastes a lot of their time and resources investigating every slight, and has assigned agents to ‘protect’ Sister Obnoxious, Sarah Sanders after she was asked to leave the Red Hen.

Trump can’t take a joke or anyone opposing him. He over reacts to anything he interprets as a ‘insult’.
