Not That It Matters

It’s just a bunch of facts, statements of reality, so the Republicans will ignore them, but: crossings along the southern border peaked at 1.6 million in fiscal year 2000 and are running at about 400,000/year; the vast majority of people on the terrorist watch list cross on the northern border; according to testimony at the trial of the cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, drugs enter the US through tunnels under the walls, inside vehicles at ports of entry, or in fishing boats, not out in the unprotected areas of the border.

Congress authorized $1.3 billion last year for construction along the border and it hasn’t been spent, but now Trump demands $5.7 billion more without any planning on how it would be spent beyond “wall”. With almost two years to do something about “wall” while Republicans controlled Congress and the White House, “wall” didn’t become a priority until Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter complained about it.

Trump and the Republicans are going to continue to lose support as more and more people suffer from the effects of the shutdown. At some point Mitch McConnell is going to have to say to hell with it and pass spending bills with veto-proof majorities. The votes are there in both Houses, so stop screwing around.

I knew some of this, but not that there’s already money allocated but not spent. That’s something more people should know. It makes the shutdown make even less sense tha it does now. It’s a Presidential mental health issue. Or it’s a diversion for RussiaGate.

In the funding bills that he refused to sign before Christmas there was another $1.6 billion for border construction. What doesn’t exist are the plans for siting the construction and preparing the sites. They haven’t even made a decision as to the design of the barrier they want, so there is no basis for making bids for a construction contract.

For a real estate developer, Trump doesn’t seem to know much about construction.

Have you checked TPM lately Bryan?

Exclusive: Trump’s Companies Boosted Foreign Worker Visa Use To 10-Year High

The numbers don’t included his undocumented workers though he has many of them also. So, apparently, they are dangerous & bad for everyone but himself, his family & the GOP. How unsurprising. *shrug*

(Sorry, I don’t know where the original video is. Maybe on YT. But it’s 4:30 AM and I need sleep!)

Here’s the AeroMexico ad. People in Texas seem to forget that it started as a province of Mexico, so real Texans are going to have real Mexican genes.

It is total hypocrisy for anyone who is supposed to be in the ‘hospitality’ industry to complain about undocumented workers. If you stay at a US hotel you are better off speaking Spanish than English anywhere except the registration desk.

Trump’s paternal grandparents were immigrants from Bavaria, and his mother was a Scottish immigrant. Wives 1 & 3 were/are immigrants. He has a lot of damn gall complaining about immigrants.

Go get some sleep.
