I Am Cursed

…When it comes to Congresscritters. It is hard to believe that the least embarrassing I’ve had since 1980 was the star of a local children’s TV show before entering politics.

Matt Gaetz is supposed to represent the First Congressional District of Florida, but he is only interested in sucking up to Donald Trump. He sends out e-mails, but the only local event he has held since being elected were in small communities on the Florida/Alabama border.

According to Chris Cillizza, Digby, Atrios, Nicolle Wallace & company, and others on MSNBC, Gaetz may have committed witness tampering in addition to “conduct unbecoming” a member of Congress.

Unlike the President, members of Congress can definitely be indicted for violating laws. Gaetz does seem to be able to bring people together when it comes to agreeing he is a low-life gangster wanna be.

Update: ‘Gangsta Gaetz’ sort of apologizes after “getting his knuckles rapped” by Miss Nancy and has been referred to the Florida State Bar for his conduct. Witness tempering is a no-no for attorneys even in Florida, and even if they are in Congress.

Yeah, it’s been all over Twitter the past few days. Latest is that apparently the Florida Bar just opened an investigation in to Gaetz for potentially violating professional conduct rules when threatening Cohen yesterday. What a moron.

Another fool all over witter, is Rep. Mark Meadows. He’s still clinging to & pushing the Obama Birther conspiracy. I suspect of you held a candle to one ear, you’d clearly see the light through the other!

Scott Dworkin has a thread about the latest:

He also has a thread about Gaetz & the Bar investigation:

Ask yourself, how does a lawyer from the Florida Panhandle who has spent his time in the Florida legislature before becoming a wingnut Republican Congresscritter know anything about a connected New York City lawyer tied to the Trump Organization? How could he know about Michael Cohen’s social life or family. Someone had to tell him what to write.

The Florida Bar is buried under criminal referrals about Gaetz’s behavior. Since he hasn’t been an active attorney in Florida for some time because of his political career, the Supreme Court of Florida may decide to suspend him to make everyone happy.

I understand. Whenever the GOP, as with our LNP, ever do anything… My first (and often, only) question is: “What’s in it for them?”

I hope you’re right about Gaetz. You would know better than I for sure. 🙂

The schmuck sent me an e-mail about what he has done, but failed to mention his witness intimidation among all of the faux news in the message.

5 Kryten42 { 03.04.19 at 2:33 am }

I keep getting SMS texts from a political party run by an ex (failed) LPA member now running an *independent* party (which means he will still vote with LPA) that is full of such transparent lies, you could walk through them as if they weren’t there! And I’ve put them on block, the “do not call/text register” and even sent them a txt never to bother me again! I still get them. Onbudsman’s office said “they are a legally registered political group and so cannot be blocked”! WTF??! When did that happen? Bah!

I guess you saw this in the Miami Herald. What do you think their chances are? Slim to none? (been busy the past couple weeks, catching up):
Calls grow for Acosta to resign as Epstein’s sex abuse victims demand justice

6 Bryan { 03.04.19 at 11:38 am }

The US does the same crap – you can’t block political calls. Real politicians honor requests to stop being annoying. Some people are still charged by the call minute and/or by the text sent or received and don’t want to pay for robocalls or -texts. Spam is spam – e-mail, voice, or SMS – spam is spam.

A judge determined that what Acosta did was illegal. He shouldn’t just resign – he should be disbarred and charged. Now that the Dems own the House, they will probably go after him. He can be impeached by Congress.

Agree, and… agree! 😉 😀

here… maybe this will help cheer you up! Cheered me up…

It didn’t take long for Stone to screw himself, again! 😆 Twitter Thread:

Roger Stone has been getting away with political “rat fucking” for half a century. Manafort, Stone, and Lee Atwater [may he not rest in the hells he created in life for so many people] have been remora on corrupt politicians since they could legally buy alcohol together. His friend, Manafort, pissed off Judge Amy Berman Jackson and hasn’t seen the outside since. Stone is going to jail.

9 Kryten42 { 03.05.19 at 10:33 pm }

Agree. I got this timely tweet from Natasha Bertrand of The Atlantic. Hinting that Mueller may be heading for a RICO case against Der Don.

https://twitter.com/NatashaBertrand/status/1103089099316121600

Now that would make my decade!😈😂

Oh!! And this gem I tweeted… Unbelievable.

https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1103149520949374976

10 Bryan { 03.05.19 at 10:50 pm }

RICO has been on the table for some time, especially when you review the guys on the Mueller team – lots of organized crimes specialists. The question is who does the deed and I would suspect it is going to be handed off to SDNY who own Cohen, Weiselberg, Pecker, etc.

The White House turned down the request and now they’ll receive the subpoenas. Nadler and Trump have a history, and Nadler is not going back down. Nadler represents a district in New York City. He used to battle Trump when he was in New York State government and Trump was trying to get government funding for his projects, AKA corporate welfare.

small communities on the Florida/Alabama border

having spent some nontrivial portions of my life in places like Houston and Miami, I tend to consider gaetz’s entire district to be a “small community on the Florida/Alabama border.” 😈

speaking of considerations, i did once consider trying to get both you and @stonekettle to join me at one of his early “local events” but decided that it might be asking too much of one’s internet friends to get that up close and personal with some of these congresscritters..

12 Bryan { 03.08.19 at 8:46 pm }

San Diego, Rochester NY, Frankfurt Am Main, Athens, London, Amsterdam – I’ve lived in some larger cites, but Fort Walton is ‘Huuuge’ compared to Jay & Century. Pensacola is the population center of the district, and he is from Fort Walton, so why annoy the small towns?

Jim & I aren’t the sort of people Congresscritters want to see at their town halls. We would ask questions, pointed questions, the sort of questions we were trained to ask of ne’er-do-wells.

13 hipparchia { 03.08.19 at 10:31 pm }

I’m not either. that’s why i wanted to invite y’all 😈

Need to wait until the tomatoes are over ripe. Shakespeare’s audiences had the right idea 😉

15 Kryten42 { 03.10.19 at 3:41 am }

I prefer some really well aged rotten eggs. Get a bunch of people, launch a dozen or so of them with a sling-shot’s & exit fast. Wait until after lunch, and the whole lot of them will be retching all over each other! 🤢🤮

That image is the only thing that has made me smile for… a week or more.😈

16 Bryan { 03.10.19 at 5:52 pm }

Not that I would have personal experience, but I have heard that there is a real risk when you are transporting rotten eggs that they might fracture under a number of unforeseen circumstances and it takes an extended period to eliminate the odor from the carpet and/or car seats. I will remain loyal to the use of truly over-ripe tomatoes and Tupperware containers. 😈

17 Kryten42 { 03.11.19 at 6:44 pm }

Ahhh! That’s the wonder of a good ol’ Catholic upbringing! Well versed in the care & use of rotten eggs & slingshots! We were taught to be angry and hate *something* (the *something* usually depended on the sermonizing gits pet peeve of the day). One thing that never ceases to amuse me… Is how many really terrible gang’s the Catholics (and Christian’s/Jews/Muslim’s) are responsible for creating throughout history. Not to mention just the loner evil bastards. The irony! But, I half suspect it’s all part of the plan. If people are not living in fear, most won’t need to look for *Salvation* or protection from some invisible fantasy being, will they?🤔

It’s not so difficult. Just a little forethought & planning. Like anything really. The USA & Aus. could use some of both these days.🤔😕🤷🏾‍♂️

18 Bryan { 03.11.19 at 10:11 pm }

I’ve dealt with skunks and cats marking [as well as the occasional sewer backup] but rotten eggs are the pits.

As far as religion goes, the three majors all start in the Pentateuch which is all fire and fury, war and conquest. It is really easy to justify bigotry with the Old Testament.

You mean like the foresight & planning of the British government about BREXIT 😉

Conservatives really suck at governing because they don’t believe in the necessity of government among humans. With all of history to show the need, they keep trying to reduce its effectiveness. It’s a disease.

19 Kryten42 { 03.12.19 at 1:18 am }

Best stink is refine the rotten eggs (aqueous solution of hydrogen sulfide & mix with ammonium nitrate) in a small sealed glass bottle or balloon! Double the fun!

Religion is, and always has been, the root of all evil committed by Humans.

Oh please! You know as well as I do the Brit’s have NEVER had much foresight or planning abilities! Unless there is a major war and their Empire is at risk of destruction. Suddenly, they discover they are not half bad at it! Well, not so much the *foresight* part I suppose. Both the USA and Aus can thank their current stupidity to being descendants of that lack of British foresight & planning & a real will to continue the tradition! The irony of course is both claim to despise the old Empire & all it stood for! At least the Yank’s finally did something about it and gained their autonomy. So they can continue the old traditions, but pretend they are “new and improved”! “One day… It WILL work! DAMMIT!!”

We’ve been talking for decades about becoming a republic. It won’t happen, it’s a sham. Too many skeletons and secrets hidden under the “plausible deniability” cover courtesy of being part of the Commonwealth given to Politicians, especially the PM! Blame it all on the GG or Queen/King! And then use that as a reason to become a Republic (in public. In private, not a chance in hell). I asked a British Politician a couple weeks ago “Since it’s called “The Commonwealth”, doesn’t that mean that all Nations that are part of said Commonwealth should all equally share in the wealth part?” I didn’t get a reply. Funny that!

Conservatives suck. Period. Speaking of:

https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1105300015101042688
and
https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1105250089293950976
and
https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1105254236399427585

And they are only the three I chose for today (I decided a while ago to limit myself to the typical GOP/LNP insanities in any given day, though on a really *good* (sic) day, I may choose 3 of each. Also maybe three UK ones, though I don’t usually. Everyone knows they are insane! Of course, that could also equally be said for USA and Aus.)🙄🤷🏾‍♂️

20 Bryan { 03.12.19 at 9:27 pm }

I’m lucky to make an aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate or to add sodium chloride to protein sources. If I had access to a lab with a functional hood I might try it. Over-ripe tomatoes in Zip-lok® bags or Tupperware™ containers is more my speed these days.

Terry Pratchett wrote that humans seem to genetically presupposed to bend a knee. The US dumped a mad man at the end of the eighteenth century only to elect one at the beginning of the twenty-first.

In regard to Tuck [brand name for a hemorrhoid wipe, I kid you not] can’t seem to connect the act of gathering the harvest and eating. It’s as if he doesn’t know where food comes from. Obtaining food is somewhat more important physical beauty. He should be introduced to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs or be sent to a military survival school for a reality check. Farmers depend on foreign workers to harvest the crops. Without the workers the crops rot in the fields.

As for Sister Sarah, how about pulling babies from their mother’s breast to be put in cages. They really depend on distorting late term abortion rules. If conservatives supported prenatal care and child day care they would have more credibility in their antiabortion stance. The fact that they don’t want to help assist pregnancies or support children after they are born belies their claim of being pro-life.

AOC doesn’t need any help from me. A Boston University magna cum laud [first-class] graduate can handle those who buzz around her.

21 Kryten42 { 03.14.19 at 2:03 am }

😆 Blame Mom and the Chem set Birthday gift @ 8 & the Sat. trips to the State Library & very helpful librarians! MY Chem experiments were banned from the house after discovering with joy how easy it was to create and aqueous solution of hydrogen sulfide & mix with ammonium nitrate! NO Bunsen Burner or dry ice required! But opening every door & window was! I kinda overlooked that part in my Scientific zeal!

OK! That “Tuck [brand name for a hemorrhoid wipe” made my day! It doesn’t get much more perfect than that! 🤣👍🏾

AOC doesn’t need anyone’s help. She’s proven she is more than capable. She has my admiration & respect. I do hope she has a capable security detail however! Though, she’s a street fighter with street smarts. She knows “which way is up!”

Oh my… I just *bumped* into Skippy the Bush Kangaroo on Twitter! @skippybkroo
Wow… Flashback overload!! I asked if he remembered me from Loaded Mouth. That will be interesting (and surprising!) 😆

22 Kryten42 { 03.14.19 at 10:22 am }

I think AOC graduated Cum Laude (top 15%) not Magna Cum Laude (top 10%). In any case, she worked for it & deserved it.

23 Bryan { 03.14.19 at 2:52 pm }

Could be, I don’t remember the specific source for that. Frankly I’m not sure what the break down is. Most of my schools just said “with Honors” except for Summa Cum Laud on my degree, but it was in Computer Science and I had decades in the field before I bothered with a degree.

24 Bryan { 03.14.19 at 3:09 pm }

My brothers and I were banned from experiments inside, and had to take it outside. Our choice of venomous critters was more limited than yours, but we managed. We had a Gibson Chemistry Set and acquired “extras” if they were required. Hell, for one science project a vet helped out with with drugs and syringes to anesthetize hamsters for surgery [it grossed out the judges, but was interesting – locating a vein on a hamster is damn hard].

Yep, ‘Tux and Skippy are in the thrall of Twitter.

25 Kryten42 { 03.15.19 at 2:24 am }

Summa is impressive. Top 5% (I only know all this from my time studying in the USA). We don’t use the “Laude” measure here, and GPA’s are not used below tertiary level. We call them Distinctions with an “average” High Distinction, Distinction, Credit) A High Distinction is the equivalent of “Summa cum Laude”, Distinction is Magna, Credit is Laude. For me, my first two years were a High Distinction average of 98% and 97%, final year was Distinction average of 94% (because I pissed off an arrogant SOB lecturer that graded me @ 91%, though all my other subjects were graded between 94-97%. Many years later, I showed my work to a retired Lecturer in that subject I met & he said I should have received 94-95%, not 91%. Also that I could take it up with the board and have it corrected, maybe (depending upon whether that a’hole was still @ that Uni). I didn’t bother. My work after speaks for itself and I never really cared about “academia” anyway, nor many “professional academics” (unless they’ve actually worked in the “Real World”(tm)!

Yeah, I see badtux now & then (did you know the guy that started Loaded Mouth was nicknamed Tux (he was from Rhode Island if memory serves)? That’s why I don’t use tux for badtux.) We like or comment on each others tweets now & then. First time I’ve seen skippy in years! Was some good memories. 😀

26 Bryan { 03.15.19 at 10:39 pm }

When I got my degree, I wasn’t learning, I was remembering. In some subjects I had more real world experience than the professor. I would have been ashamed of myself if I hadn’t gotten top marks. What really matters is that we got paid for our work, and it was good enough to be useful for years.

Normally I use Badtux or BT, but here I assume that everyone knows who I talking about with ‘Tux, the apostrophe standing in for “Bad”. I check Skippy’s site every day but suspected he had jumped to the ‘blue bird’ as he was always a ‘roo of few words. 😉

27 Kryten42 { 03.21.19 at 7:11 am }

I just got this tweet from a Journo @ the Miami Herald (Julie K. Brown) regarding Epstein. I retweeted it. Thought you may be interested:

https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1108702343673995266

28 Bryan { 03.21.19 at 10:36 am }

That was such a miscarriage of justice. Epstein and the prosecutors should all be rotting in prison along with George Pell and all of the other pedophiles. If the system can’t protect children what the f*ck good is it?
