In some (potentially) good personal news… My new Shrink (Clinical Psychologist) has been quite concerned about my mental state, which I’ll admit has not been very good recently. I think I mentioned here earlier this year that this new Clinic charges the standard 1hr rate of $160-$180. He had that reduced to $20/session, which I can afford once a fortnight. Hut he wants to see me weekly. he convinced the clinic to bill me $10/session using some interesting educational grants (complicated story). I got a bit teary (I’m on an emotional roller-coaster lately on top of everything else). Did I mention i busted my gaming headphones? My toaster died the same day & I broke my fave coffee mug (it just slipped out of my hand). Trouble does come in threes! The toaster was cheap plastic crap that was meant to be temporary 5 years ago when my good one died after 15 years. So, I decided I needed some *Retail Therapy*! I have an online *credit account* with ZipPay with a $1,000 limit. I’d used up about half of that & the repayments are $40/Mth (no interest but a $6/Mth fee after 4 Months). Which is why i couldn’t afford more than 2 Shrink Visit’s per Month. So… I got some new headphones (Kingston HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset) & toaster (Sunbeam TA6240 Maestro Toaster), some Ugg boots & Ugg Moccasins (it’s getting damned cold! Winter will be freezing!) Some microfiber flannel bed linen (nice & warm) & a few other things. Funny… I ordered from two stores. The ones I ordered Tuesday arrived today (Toaster, Ugg’s, linen), but the ones I ordered Monday arrive Friday! Both shipped the day I ordered them from Melbourne warehouses.🤷🏾♂️
Also got a bunch of games I’ve wanted for awhile but waiting for decent discounts! Finally had a couple cheap bundles from two companies I deal with (Humble Bundle & Fanatical) & even STEAM had some very good specials! Almost as if the Universe decided to take pity on me. 😉 🤭😏

Tacoma (an exceptionally good “Narrative Adventure” on a Space Station.) Two things I really like is that you can enable over two hours of commentary from the Design team & the Actors, which add some very interesting perspective, and a few clues. The 2nd is they use ASL (American Sign Language) by the character you play with some hidden gems. This is the studio’s 2nd game & I also have their first “gone home”. I really enjoyed them both, but Tacoma especially as it was more polished & had more depth, which is to be expected.

The retail value was over A$360, but I paid (with an extra 15 % discount code I had) about A$45. They should, hopefully, keep me busy for awhile! Actually, one of the main reasons I play games, is because they help keep my mind active & focused, and pass the time. And also help repair the damage to my motor skills & eye-hand coordination.
I never pay full price for anything! I can’t afford it & most stuff is way overpriced anyway! 😉 😀
Update: Well, my *stuff* arrived! Headphones are even better than I hoped! That is so rare! I’ve had them on for about 2 hours listening to music & don’t even notice them now! They sound *almost* as good as my far more expensive Sennheiser’s (though they still win the media sound/comfort award. The new HyperX can’s are designed primarily for gaming, I’ll test that later). Toaster is awesome too! (Seriously, until you’ve lived with a crappy cheap toaster that either burns or barely warms bread, a good toaster that does everything it’s supposed to is heaven! Has a “crumpet” setting that I tried this morning… perrrrrfic!😊👍🏾) Everything else is good also. I’m a happy chappy for a change!
It is very good that you are dealing with the stress in multiple ways. Talking about it, staying active and challenging your mind, and getting the tools you need to accomplish those things.
Several of those games look intriguing, but I have a live action game called property management that is more complex [it involves humans, so logic is not a feature] and not nearly as satisfying as the problems never seem to stay solved. [It’s your dog, so you have to clean up the crap. If you got a cat they would generally deposit it in a convenient location.]
I don’t mind paying full price for necessities, but I wait for sales on toys.

Sadly, whilst Sunbeam do have product in the USA, that toaster isn’t one of them.
Here’s a review if curious (I paid A$64 w/ free shipping). I’ve used Sunbeam for decades! Their products have always been very good. I have an electric non-stick frying pan that Mom owned that’s about 30 years old now! And still works great. My Coffee machine I bought in 2015 & have used every day since hasn’t skipped a beat. And they are still made in Australia (amazingly! Many claim they are but are only *assembled* here!)

The headphones are really AWESOME! I am very surprised! And that happens so rarely with products these days! If you even need a decent set of ‘phones, I’d recommend these as a the best “all rounders” I’ve ever owned & won’t break the bank! 👍🏾😁 My Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones are still better for music & Theater, but they are designed for that & not gaming (they are quite different) that I paid about A$380 for in 2014.
I’m still waiting for one more product, it’s shipping from the USA. Expected mid next week. It’s an aftermarket replacement cooler for my graphics card. I’m fed up with the poor cooling capacity & damned high-pitched noise from the stock standard cooler! (GIGABYTE R9 390X G1 Gaming). Sadly, the card is notorious for throttling down as it gets hot under full load. I removed the crappy cheap thermal pad’s Gigabyte used & replaced them with my Thermal Grisly Kryonaut thermal compound (that reduced operating temp’s a few degrees) & added copper heatsinks on the rear. According to this review (and a few others) it should reduce the temp’s quite a lot! I notice it throttling in many of my newer games when there is a lot of activity, the frame-rates suddenly drop & the game stutters. It was a very good price (on sale @ Amazon) given the crap exchange rate! A$90 which is actually the same as the RRP price in the USA. 😀

You really take your caffeine seriously. After the Air Force and law enforcement if it’s hot, brown, bitter, and served in a cup, I’ll drink it. I like great coffee, but the prices have gone through the roof. I did like the tea in the UK and Okinawa, but after I stopped flying it was impossible to get the local blends I liked. Nobody sold “the stuff at that tea shop just down the street from the big bookstore in Oxford” or “the same tea they have at the noodle place next the most popular Kobe beef place in Koza City, just down from the Kadena gate.”
The kids have a postcard from New Zealand and Britain as well as mine, and several from the US Midwest, so they will appreciate yours. They are posting them around a world map and drawing lines from the cards to the locations on the map.

I am VERY serious about coffee! Also tea & Cacao! (I am just having a coffee with a spoon of cacao powder!) Yumm! You do know that real coffee beans are far less expensive than instant, right? Not sure about there, but good branded organic beans here are between A$25-A$35 / kg ($2.50-$3.50 / 100gm) whereas most Instant varies greatly, depending upon how pretty the label is & the marketing budget, between about $5 – $12 / 100gm! And there are often good discounts for beans (I recently got 2x 1kg bags of one of my fave Italian suppliers for $30, a rare 50% discount. They more often do 20-33% discounts). That will last me about 3 Months. I typically only have a coffee in the morning. Tea (real leaf, not bags) in the afternoon/evening.
I hope the other Aussies do as they have said they would. I wish I could send them some toy Aussie animals for their classroom. 😀

The active shooter drills have gotten out of hand. Several people were injured when the people ‘playing the shooters’ used Airsoft 6mm plastic BBs. When you use them in combat games everyone wears protective gear like vests, goggles, and helmets. The teachers got bruised. Teachers didn’t sign up for combat obstacle courses. This is dangerous.
Pretty much everything important is on hold, waiting for the process to work its way to the end. First there are requests, then subpoenas, followed by court rulings, appeals, and finally the Supreme Court all design to run out the clock.
