Still Making Us Cringe

This is my Congresscritter: Matt Gaetz says Trans rights would mean that Trump could be first female POTUS. This might even top the agitprop that same-sex marriage would mean people could marry their pets.

“I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative.” – John Stuart Mill, 1866

1 Kryten42 { 04.04.19 at 6:16 am }

Yeah. I really do feel your pain my friend!

John Stuart Mill was certainly accurate & possibly prescient! He certainly understood “Human nature”.🤷🏾‍♂️🙄

maybe these two tweets of mine will help cheer you up a bit! They certainly helped me. 😀

In some (potentially) good personal news… My new Shrink (Clinical Psychologist) has been quite concerned about my mental state, which I’ll admit has not been very good recently. I think I mentioned here earlier this year that this new Clinic charges the standard 1hr rate of $160-$180. He had that reduced to $20/session, which I can afford once a fortnight. Hut he wants to see me weekly. he convinced the clinic to bill me $10/session using some interesting educational grants (complicated story). I got a bit teary (I’m on an emotional roller-coaster lately on top of everything else). Did I mention i busted my gaming headphones? My toaster died the same day & I broke my fave coffee mug (it just slipped out of my hand). Trouble does come in threes! The toaster was cheap plastic crap that was meant to be temporary 5 years ago when my good one died after 15 years. So, I decided I needed some *Retail Therapy*! I have an online *credit account* with ZipPay with a $1,000 limit. I’d used up about half of that & the repayments are $40/Mth (no interest but a $6/Mth fee after 4 Months). Which is why i couldn’t afford more than 2 Shrink Visit’s per Month. So… I got some new headphones (Kingston HyperX Cloud Alpha Pro Gaming Headset) & toaster (Sunbeam TA6240 Maestro Toaster), some Ugg boots & Ugg Moccasins (it’s getting damned cold! Winter will be freezing!) Some microfiber flannel bed linen (nice & warm) & a few other things. Funny… I ordered from two stores. The ones I ordered Tuesday arrived today (Toaster, Ugg’s, linen), but the ones I ordered Monday arrive Friday! Both shipped the day I ordered them from Melbourne warehouses.🤷🏾‍♂️

Also got a bunch of games I’ve wanted for awhile but waiting for decent discounts! Finally had a couple cheap bundles from two companies I deal with (Humble Bundle & Fanatical) & even STEAM had some very good specials! Almost as if the Universe decided to take pity on me. 😉 🤭😏

Glass Masquerade 2 – Illusions (A beautifully done stained -glass style mosaic puzzle game based upon the “Wonderland” stories, with nice relaxing music! I got the 1st one (Glass Masquerade with the 4 extra Puzzle Packs) a few Months ago.

Anna – Extended Edition (called “A haunting tale of psychological terror”. And it sure is! been quite some time since any supposedly “horror” game made me jump! Awesome!👍🏾😎

Tacoma (an exceptionally good “Narrative Adventure” on a Space Station.) Two things I really like is that you can enable over two hours of commentary from the Design team & the Actors, which add some very interesting perspective, and a few clues. The 2nd is they use ASL (American Sign Language) by the character you play with some hidden gems. This is the studio’s 2nd game & I also have their first “gone home”. I really enjoyed them both, but Tacoma especially as it was more polished & had more depth, which is to be expected.

The Talos Principle (Called “a first-person puzzle game in the tradition of philosophical science fiction” in which you discover you are an Android (as in I, Robot) You also find a little kitten! Scroll down to see an image of the Android & kitten. Awwww… I want one!)

BioShock Infinite (w/ Seasons Pass for all DLC’s (Down Loadable Content) I personally think this is the best of the Bioshock series so far.)
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (w/ all 7 DLC’s — WHat can I say… All the Borderlands games are basically insane! And one need’s to be at least a little insane to play & appreciate them!🤪😈)
Borderlands II (w/ all 46 DLC’s 🙀)
Mafia III (Set in New Bordeaux NO, circa 1968. You can probably guess what it’s about! 😉 )
Vikings – Wolves of Midgard (A fairly typical RPG/Action game based upon the Mythology of Ragnarok.)
Hegemony Rome: The Rise of Caesar (w/ DLC’s – An RPG/Simulation/Strategy/Building game set in ancient Gaul where Julius Caesar wages a decade long war to subjugate the barbarian hordes.)

The retail value was over A$360, but I paid (with an extra 15 % discount code I had) about A$45. They should, hopefully, keep me busy for awhile! Actually, one of the main reasons I play games, is because they help keep my mind active & focused, and pass the time. And also help repair the damage to my motor skills & eye-hand coordination.

I never pay full price for anything! I can’t afford it & most stuff is way overpriced anyway! 😉 😀

2 Kryten42 { 04.04.19 at 9:27 pm }

Update: Well, my *stuff* arrived! Headphones are even better than I hoped! That is so rare! I’ve had them on for about 2 hours listening to music & don’t even notice them now! They sound *almost* as good as my far more expensive Sennheiser’s (though they still win the media sound/comfort award. The new HyperX can’s are designed primarily for gaming, I’ll test that later). Toaster is awesome too! (Seriously, until you’ve lived with a crappy cheap toaster that either burns or barely warms bread, a good toaster that does everything it’s supposed to is heaven! Has a “crumpet” setting that I tried this morning… perrrrrfic!😊👍🏾) Everything else is good also. I’m a happy chappy for a change!

It is very good that you are dealing with the stress in multiple ways. Talking about it, staying active and challenging your mind, and getting the tools you need to accomplish those things.

Several of those games look intriguing, but I have a live action game called property management that is more complex [it involves humans, so logic is not a feature] and not nearly as satisfying as the problems never seem to stay solved. [It’s your dog, so you have to clean up the crap. If you got a cat they would generally deposit it in a convenient location.]

I don’t mind paying full price for necessities, but I wait for sales on toys.

There are openings for 52 US ambassadors. Trump should appoint Gaetz ambassador to Tajikistan. He could spend the next few years trying to find it. Of course, Trump has no idea there is a country called Tajikistan.

As a New Yorker, Trump should know that Puerto Rico is part of the US, and Puerto Ricans are US citizens, but he can’t remember that it was his grandfather, not his father who was born in a Bavarian village, so Tajiks can’t expect to be in his memory.

4 Badtux { 04.05.19 at 11:28 am }

While Trump’s man boobs could do with a bra, the notion of him as female pretty much sends my brain into a blue screen of death shutdown.

5 Bryan { 04.05.19 at 8:46 pm }

I avoided concentrating on that to avoid the BSoD, Badtux. I stopped at the warning from my virus checker. 😉

I’ll have to see if there is a US version of that toaster, Kryten, because you are describing the lack of accuracy or consistency of my current device.

6 Kryten42 { 04.06.19 at 8:31 am }

Thanks Bryan. Given our respective histories, I’m sure you’ve learned as I have that ignoring problems, or pretending there isn’t one, will never fix them. And people who loooove to attach “political correctness” & ridiculous inane stigma (or even worse, Religious BS) to Human problems are cowardly idiots that really should do the World a favor and drop dead. Much rather be honest to, and about, myself and own my problems than pretend the problems are caused by “Them!” (for any given current “them”)! Sure, many problems may have been, and often are, initially caused by situations outside of our control, but they then become our problem to deal with. We can’t run away or hide from ourselves. No matter how much we may wish we could. It’s one of the main reasons Man created Religion. Gives fools and cowards someone to blame for all their problems and they can live in hope that one day their deity of choice will one day fix it, or it will all be sorted after the die and go to the Magical Wonderland (of choice once again). Maybe.

I am playing Tacoma again! It’s sooooo interactive! Can even play Pool, darts or shoot some hoops! Assemble a jigsaw… Awesome! 😆

Anyway… Speaking of Dotard… He once again claimed his Father was born in Germany!

And this excellent comeback video by an American… oops… “Puerto Rican” citizen is well done:

And this about Left’s fantasy regarding immanent impeachment (the comments in the thread may amuse you also Bryan! 😏🤭

Sadly, whilst Sunbeam do have product in the USA, that toaster isn’t one of them.
Here’s a review if curious (I paid A$64 w/ free shipping). I’ve used Sunbeam for decades! Their products have always been very good. I have an electric non-stick frying pan that Mom owned that’s about 30 years old now! And still works great. My Coffee machine I bought in 2015 & have used every day since hasn’t skipped a beat. And they are still made in Australia (amazingly! Many claim they are but are only *assembled* here!)

Sunbeam USA:

The headphones are really AWESOME! I am very surprised! And that happens so rarely with products these days! If you even need a decent set of ‘phones, I’d recommend these as a the best “all rounders” I’ve ever owned & won’t break the bank! 👍🏾😁 My Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones are still better for music & Theater, but they are designed for that & not gaming (they are quite different) that I paid about A$380 for in 2014.

I’m still waiting for one more product, it’s shipping from the USA. Expected mid next week. It’s an aftermarket replacement cooler for my graphics card. I’m fed up with the poor cooling capacity & damned high-pitched noise from the stock standard cooler! (GIGABYTE R9 390X G1 Gaming). Sadly, the card is notorious for throttling down as it gets hot under full load. I removed the crappy cheap thermal pad’s Gigabyte used & replaced them with my Thermal Grisly Kryonaut thermal compound (that reduced operating temp’s a few degrees) & added copper heatsinks on the rear. According to this review (and a few others) it should reduce the temp’s quite a lot! I notice it throttling in many of my newer games when there is a lot of activity, the frame-rates suddenly drop & the game stutters. It was a very good price (on sale @ Amazon) given the crap exchange rate! A$90 which is actually the same as the RRP price in the USA. 😀

Oh!! Almost forgot (well, I did forget in fact)… Finally organized a few post cards & am filling them out. Also selected different Aus-motif stamps for them. I’ll mail them Monday when I head into town to see my Shrink. A few other Aussie friends are doing the same.😊

7 Kryten42 { 04.06.19 at 8:49 am }

Oh (again)… I meant to give you this link with a tweet from Adam B. Bear (no comment🤭😏) regarding your critter (that Bear also doesn’t like much) Gaetz:

Ohhhh… I found a very interesting Tea blender/exporter on twitter (from Yorkshire UK, home of some of the Worlds best tea!) I sent a message about whether they export to Aus. I’d really like to try some! I just love the name, teapots & artwork! 🤪😂👍🏾

And this aptly named Coffee producer in the USA! I’ve had a couple deliveries since I discovered them last year!👍🏾

8 Bryan { 04.06.19 at 9:50 pm }

My greatest fear is that my hell would be evangelical heaven, although when I show up they would have to admit it was hell… 👿

You really take your caffeine seriously. After the Air Force and law enforcement if it’s hot, brown, bitter, and served in a cup, I’ll drink it. I like great coffee, but the prices have gone through the roof. I did like the tea in the UK and Okinawa, but after I stopped flying it was impossible to get the local blends I liked. Nobody sold “the stuff at that tea shop just down the street from the big bookstore in Oxford” or “the same tea they have at the noodle place next the most popular Kobe beef place in Koza City, just down from the Kadena gate.”

The kids have a postcard from New Zealand and Britain as well as mine, and several from the US Midwest, so they will appreciate yours. They are posting them around a world map and drawing lines from the cards to the locations on the map.

Adam Bear is down on the Atlantic coast on the peninsula just north of Miami. We are all tired of “Florida Man” especially when he is a Congresscritter.

9 Kryten42 { 04.07.19 at 8:18 am }

Me… I an hoping there is a HELL & a Satan! I’d enjoy taking the job off him after I show how I’d deal with all those hypocrites! He’d appreciate a nice little Holiday for a few Centuries, knowing Hell was in capable hands, I’m sure!😈

I am VERY serious about coffee! Also tea & Cacao! (I am just having a coffee with a spoon of cacao powder!) Yumm! You do know that real coffee beans are far less expensive than instant, right? Not sure about there, but good branded organic beans here are between A$25-A$35 / kg ($2.50-$3.50 / 100gm) whereas most Instant varies greatly, depending upon how pretty the label is & the marketing budget, between about $5 – $12 / 100gm! And there are often good discounts for beans (I recently got 2x 1kg bags of one of my fave Italian suppliers for $30, a rare 50% discount. They more often do 20-33% discounts). That will last me about 3 Months. I typically only have a coffee in the morning. Tea (real leaf, not bags) in the afternoon/evening.

I hope the other Aussies do as they have said they would. I wish I could send them some toy Aussie animals for their classroom. 😀

Seen this? Are you surprised? I’m not.

BTW… This thread where I said the comments might amuse you… I forgot you don’t use Twitter (don’t blame you!) look for the Number next to the speech bubble. If it’s >1, there are more than 1 comment. T only shows the first comment under that post. You have to click on that comment to see all the replies. Sorry about that!

10 Kryten42 { 04.07.19 at 8:49 am }

I posted this earlier. made me sooo damned angry!!

And this…

Good thing I’m seeing my shrink tomorrow… later today now.

11 Kryten42 { 04.07.19 at 9:37 am }

We all need some good!. I just retweeted this! I won’t say anything more! Please watch the vid. You won’t regret it. 😉 😀

12 Bryan { 04.07.19 at 7:53 pm }

Before I forget this link will get you to the teacher’s [@MissAngelaAK] Twitter page.

13 Bryan { 04.07.19 at 8:36 pm }

I wanted to test the link to ensure it did what I expected before continuing.

As for Homeland Security giving up watching domestic threats, they have no resources now that they need to spend 24/7 demonizing asylum seekers at the Southern border because Native American women and children seeking asylum from violence in their home countries are a greater danger than white guys with infantry weapons who kill dozens of US citizens. Hell, the FBI lists eco-terrorists who haven’t ever killed anyone as the number 1 terrorist threat.

The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen, just “resigned” because she wasn’t tough enough on the border – not a single ‘lamp shade made from the skin of an immigrant child’ in the entire department, and failure to violate enough US laws and judicial rulings to suit Trump.

I saw that CBS piece just before I came back to respond to you. Those middle school kids want to get other kids into their sport. They were raised right, to do right.

The active shooter drills have gotten out of hand. Several people were injured when the people ‘playing the shooters’ used Airsoft 6mm plastic BBs. When you use them in combat games everyone wears protective gear like vests, goggles, and helmets. The teachers got bruised. Teachers didn’t sign up for combat obstacle courses. This is dangerous.

Pretty much everything important is on hold, waiting for the process to work its way to the end. First there are requests, then subpoenas, followed by court rulings, appeals, and finally the Supreme Court all design to run out the clock.

14 Kryten42 { 04.08.19 at 2:08 pm }

Thanks for the link! I’ll add it to my tweet about the School. 😀

You may find this long but well thought out thread interesting! I did.

I needed some more *GOOD* and found this video beauty involving a rescued kitty & a crazy Scotsman cycling around the World! 😉 😆

15 Bryan { 04.08.19 at 10:00 pm }

I’m in a waiting cycle – waiting for the real Mueller Report, waiting for Trump’s tax returns, waiting for the Democrats to stop talking and start doing. Trump is getting worse every day as he realizes that the majority of people are not willing to go to jail for him. His act works for the Mafia because they understand loyalty is a two-way street and leaders have to be loyal to their followers. Trump believes that it is a one-way street, so Michael Cohen cut a deal and people in government aren’t going to break the law just because he tells them to [unless they are too stupid to understand they are breaking the law.]

I trying to decide if what Trump is doing to Homeland Security is closer to Stalin’s Purge, or Hitler’s Night of the Long Knives. I’m leaning towards Trump reflecting his German roots… 😈

I hope that Scot is planning on getting the cat spayed or he could have a very interesting time in a few months.

16 Badtux { 04.09.19 at 7:47 pm }

Yah, Trump told the Border Patrol to break the law. Then when he left the room, agents looked at their supervisors and said, “what do we do?” Their supervisors told them to follow the law, because if they knowingly violated a judge’s orders, they could be held personally liable.

Yeah, the list of people willing to go to jail for Trump is declining day by day….

17 Bryan { 04.09.19 at 9:57 pm }

Most of the lower ranks should have figured out after the government shutdown that he really isn’t on their side. I would hope that the troops have figured out that he just wants to use them for a photo op and doesn’t really value them or their service.

After Nuremberg “I was only following orders” gets you nothing in court. That point was hammered home for me in basic training. It was also mentioned in the police academy.

18 Kryten42 { 04.12.19 at 4:56 am }

Thanks Badtux. I tweeted that and another tweet of yours.

Agree Bryan. We were instructed as such during my Military training in the 80’s.

I’ve been pretty pissed off the past… while (I can’t even give a guesstimate!) about the state of Global politics & the incredible ignorance & stupidity of Humans. I had enough of our morons here & posted a tweet to hopefully (a small hope) wake up a few morons who seem to think everything is going to be fixed as soon as the *other* party is elected to fix it all! It applies as well to the USA, UK and any other nation where the criminals are running things.

I was so annoyed, I even misspelled “THREAD”. Expect others.

19 Bryan { 04.12.19 at 9:46 pm }

I’m fed up with the concept of political parties. The parties only seem to be concerned with elections. As soon as one election is over, they start asking for money to campaign for the next election. Do something, then we can talk about donations.

You’re right, it is going to take as much, if not more time to fix all of the problems the conservatives cause whenever they get in power. The Democrats are going to need at least 8 years in total control to repair all of the problems the Republicans have caused.
