Too bad it seems to be avoiding a direct strike on Mar-a-lago. At least you’re going to be spared anything other than peripheral rain and wind, since it looks like it’s about to head up the East Coast. I pity those poor sods in the Bahamas though, it’s just been sitting there all day long. That has to suck big time :(.

It’s still stationary, wobbling around a 5 mile area. Those islanders are just getting pounded. The surge could still take out Trump’s fake Spanish village.

If this storm had entered the Gulf and started toward me, I would have been on my way to Huntsville. I don’t need the aggravation anymore.

TDS has a good (sic) segment on Dorian & Dotard’s … *sigh* Just him being himself. Anyway, it’s up on YT if you haven’t seen it yet.

I donated what little I could to a relief fund for the Islands. Not sure it will help that much unfortunately. I can see more *Dorian’s* in their future. 🥺😖

It’s not certain how many people will want to stay on the islands because of the level of destruction. From the aerial photographs I would be surprised if any of their basic infrastructure systems don’t need to be completely rebuilt. As far as recovery, I would guess that the civil service is just as decimated as the general population and the death toll will be in the hundreds or thousands.

There have been more people talking about leaving than rebuilding. If Trump wasn’t being such a schmuck many of them would want to move hundreds of miles away from any coast.

That was some funny stuff.

Agree. I can’t see many wanting to stay on the islands. But they will have problems relocating. Most nations these day’s don’t care much for a few refugees, let alone thousands.

Seems Trump has forced NOAA to agree with him.

Trevor has a YT vid about Boris Johnson (with hit’s @ DT along the way) that was funny.

Try this one too. A bear cub is trapped in a big dumpster & Mom & sibling try to rescue the cub but need some help. 😀

Yes, it is getting more and more difficult for refugees to find refuge.

The NOAA official who backed Trump is a deputy/assistant communications director who is a political appointee and was part of the Trump campaign organization and inauguration committee. She isn’t qualified to be a weather person on a local TV station, much less a hurricane forecaster.

The bear rescue was neat, but the YT vid is from Comedy Central UK and not available in the US. I couldn’t find it on the US site.

Oh! Ummm… That’s one reason I use a VPN. It’s an easy way to get past those stupid territorial restrictions. There are some free ones that would do the job for that issue.

I added your NOAA comment to a tweet about an article in WaPo about the “weather community” being in uproar over the support of Trumpelstiltskin.

Thanks for reminding me. I have a VPN on Opera, but not on Firefox and I saw it over there.

No problem. I need a lot of reminders these days. *shrug*

Ive been buying a few items from the “Wish” website in Europe the past few Months. Most of the Euro’s go to the “Make a Wish” foundation for Children. They have a special on the past week, so I got this “Outdoor Emergency Survival First Aid Kit” that is really cheap! It’s a combo first-aid/tool kit (you know I love tools! But I did need a first-aid kit & this was cheaper than restocking my old one I’ve used up). the kit’s come in several sizes. I got the 241 piece kit. I only paid 13eur on special, but added a 15eur donation.

I remembered you liked to play the old Win Solitaire (and Minefield?) I found a open-source project on Github a while ago, then forgot about it! I got an email notice that reminded me… It’s a Win95 that runs on WinXP-10/Linux/OSX. I got it to run my old DOS app’s/games that just don’t work well (or at all) on DOSbox on W10!

https://github.com/felixrieseberg/windows95/

While I’m at it… This one is the tool I use the most to stop W10 spying, being slow, being annoying! It does a few things none of the others do (even the ones you have to pay for)! The most important is blocking the sneaky addresses in the HOSTS file that M$ use on several of the background app’s W10 needs to work (so you can’t disable them)! IT also gives you a “God Mode” link on the desktop, to access all the W10 tools in one place, most of which are hidden anyway!😉😎

https://www.winprivacy.de/english-home/

I really noticed the difference in speed, especially @ startup. W10 also uses a less CPU/RAM.

And this is the best “Task Manager” around and it’s free (though I gave a donation as it really is very good!)

MiTeC also has some other useful tools for free on that site. 👍😊

If you are interested in, or need any Windoze tool in particular, let me know. I probably have a link! 😉 😀

I hope all is going well for you m8! Take care, be well. 😀

Things are certainly going better for me than the Bahamas who are now waiting for another tropical storm to pass over and making their lives miserable. I had a good visit with my younger brother and his wife, even though it was too hot to do anything outside.

I will be looking at your recommendations for more than game playing. I still have software that I use that won’t run on anything newer than XP and I haven’t converted to Unix/linux. The latest version of unbuntu insists I have a 40-inch monitor instead of 32 inches which is going to require change the GUI to something a bit smarter than the replacement for Unity. I think I’ll shifting to Mate, which I use on my Raspberry Pi.

In the US many Wishes involve Disney World in Orlando, which Disney handles with efficiency. They know how to make visitors believe they are happy – the workforce not so much. Think about being inside the Mickey Mouse costume in Florida in the summer.
