The BBC reported – Cybertruck: Tesla truck gets 150,000 orders despite launch gaffe. The “gaffe” wasn’t. That is how most “bullet-proof glass” reacts to impact. The material is actually layered glass & plastic, with the outer glass providing UV protection and scratch resistance for the plastic and the plastic absorbing the energy of the impact to prevent penetration and holding the glass fragments in place. OTOH, Elon’s cross between a Chevy Vega and a DeLorean is a hatchback without the hatch. The rear bed isn’t long enough for plywood or drywall. That windshield is going to turn the thing into a solar oven in the summer.

Rachel Maddow has Impeachment embroidery: “You can’t promote principled anti-corruption action without pissing off corrupt people.” George Kent, US State Department, January 13, 2019.

Rachel is also reporting that US Intel have briefed the Senate on the Ukraine interference theory: it is Russian agitprop.

A while ago Lindsey Graham compared the Mueller investigation to “a political rectal exam”. You know that’s a nice compact definition of investigating an asshole who is a politician. Thanks, Lindsey 😈

I used to work in an office in a city where bullet-proof glass was a pretty good idea. we had a couple of cars broken into in the parking lot, during working hours no less, and at least one of them stolen, but, fortunately, we never had to find out first-hand how, or how well, the building’s windows did their job.

happy thanksgiving to all y’all — and I am thankful for you and your blog and your cats.

again, no turkey for me. now that I’ve finally managed to convince various family members that it’s more enjoyable to let others do all the work, I get to have all kinds of non-turkey, for which I also give mucho mucho thanks. this year: prime rib au jus with horseradish, mmm mmm good!

also, I have no idea how to make the emoticons work, did something change?

The first test was using the typing technique that has always worked and the second was using the Apple iPad emoticon. I did the tests from the iPad to sign in with a different account than administrator.

Just include a space before and after and use the codes from the Emoticon page.

I’m familiar with the armored glass from banks and armored vehicles.

Your cats would enjoy turkey, even if you don’t. 😉

so, the coloncloseparentheses for a smiley doesn’t seem to work, but the ever useful blockquote tags and colontwistedcolon does seem to.

also copy and paste of your emoticon worked.

meanwhile, the cats had to make do with beef or fish, as some of them have been boycotting turkey-flavor catfood for a while now and I haven’t been going to any great lengths to find it in the store lately. and since we ate out, there were no leftovers (the one downside to letting other people do all the work on holidays).

I can see them all, so it is a bit of a puzzle…
