Certainly Not Running For President

It’s the Times Picayune with the continuing saga of Bobby Jindal not running for President, this time in Arkansas

On Saturday morning, Jindal will attend the “Wal-Mart Morning Meeting” at the Walton Life Fitness Center in Bentonville, Ark., and he will thank Wal-Mart leaders for their assistance to Louisiana during the hurricanes that have struck the state in the last four years.

Jindal held two fundraising events in North Carolina on Wednesday. In recent months Jindal has held fundraisers in Florida, Texas, Connecticut and Mississippi.

He just visited Iowa, and hasn’t stopped by New Hampshire yet, so he can’t be running for President, and he doesn’t seem to be spending a whole lot of time running the government of Louisiana.

This would be very amusing if it wasn’t so crazy! I’m not even a US citizen, and I find this behavior incredible to say the least. Dunno. *shaking head*

OT: After all the news about our fires the past few days, news that has made me smile have been few and far between. This one REALLY made me smile, laugh in fact! LOL

News Corp. posts whopping $8.4 billion loss

Ahhh… music to my ears! IS it music to your’s? It must be surly for any sane human. 😀

Murdoch, rot in hell you crooked, greedy, stupid bastard!!

Justice… the word still has meaning, even if it’s sometimes slow! 🙂

Made my day. 😉

Don’t you think it’s a bit early to be running for President?

His whole Fox operation is losing market share and you have to cut ad rates when that happens. With the Repubs out of power life won’t be easy for News Corp. 😆

There are people in his state who voted for him who are grumbling about there not even being a known Democratic candidate, and wondering what he wants with all the money, if he’s not running for President. They’ll be ticked off if he is running for another job, because the state is currently bereft of candidates for a lot of offices. There is some silly law that you can’t run for office if you are a convicted felon, which severely limits the Louisiana talent pool.

He been doing this since December of last year, CK, and there is no known Democratic challenger for governor.

…maybe the solution would be to have Bobby “not campaign” in Alaska and send Sarah on a “not campaigning” sojourn through Louisiana so each state could at least honestly claim that there was a governor in those respective states…

That is definitely a solution worth thinking about. We could let Bobby feed the polar bears and Sarah feed the ‘gators – great photo ops.

Now that I think of it, I don’t ever remember the GOP having less of a “bench” than they do today. They don’t have a single viable candidate with national exposure.

Well, Piyush is just exercising that Republican philosophy of governance — i.e., that government is best which governs least, as long as the proper people get their hands greased with the proceeds of the state treasury who cares about all the services that were supposed to be provided with that money that are no longer being provided? I mean, Piyush doesn’t use the charity hospital system, so why should he care that it’s mostly shut down for lack of money and people are literally dying on the streets?

He’s a really good fit with the GOP Senators. He should go a long way as a “compassionate conservative”, but he needs a hat.

9 Badtux { 02.09.09 at 8:12 pm }

A hat? Like this one?

He needs a flashier hat than that, maybe something with wings or horns. In that hat he would look normal. Of course, if he used Mardi Gras colors it would help.

11 Badtux { 02.09.09 at 10:44 pm }

Oooh! I think I found his hat!

12 Bryan { 02.09.09 at 11:05 pm }

That’s it! That’s the hat that will put him over the top.

13 Kryten42 { 02.09.09 at 11:39 pm }

Good hat! 😀

…but… It might make him look… you know… more intelligent than he apparently is? And it might upset the real US Jesters, like Stewart or Colbert. 🙂

Maybe one of those really silly clown hats I used to see at the Circus when I was a lad might be more appropriate. Strangely… they give kids nightmares you know. 😉

14 Bryan { 02.10.09 at 12:12 am }

That’s a Mardi Gras hat in the proper colors and shows what a real Louisianan he is.

Kryten, he has been systematically dumbing down since he started running for office. They’ll accept honest, they won’t like it, but they’ll accept it. What they won’t accept is intelligence. You can be clever, but must never appear to be intelligent, or they just won’t vote for you in a Republican primary in the South.

15 Kryten42 { 02.10.09 at 2:22 am }

Ahhh. Got it. 😀

Still looks like a Jesters hat to me but. 😉

The crown of misrule, which is derived from the jester’s horns. Clowns have long ruled many Southern states, but we call them Republicans.

17 Badtux { 02.10.09 at 11:20 am }

If it wasn’t for Lousiana’s crazy open primary system, Piyush would have never won a primary in Louisiana, at least not as a Republican. Even with Mike Foster appointing him as his duly appointed successor, even with all of Piyush’s attempts to turn himself into an honorary redneck like calling himself “Bobby” and getting regularly photographed in duck hunting gear with a brace of ducks, the old guard Republicans (of whom David Duke is not unusual except in his willingness to actually verbalize what they all believe) would have taken one look at Piyush and said…. “Nah.” Sad to say, Piyush was elected by Democrats. Piyush seems to have forgotten that though, based on his attempts to raise his profile amongst national Republicans while not running for President.

Oh well, the youngster will learn. In the meantime, poor Louisiana. But what else is new there?

Things have really gone down hill since Katrina. New Orleans was where you went if you were Southern and didn’t fit in at home. It was the focal point of all of the South’s creative energy, because that was where you could be whoever you really were.

So much has been lost. Now Louisiana struggles to stay ahead of Mississippi, and is losing, even as Mississippi slips further behind because of its flawed response to Katrina.
