I’ve got you beat on temperature but you have me on the heat index. It’s 95.4 here with 45% humidity which gives us only a measly 102 heat index. Regardless, it’s hot both places.
It’s hot all over the Southeast. I need to run an extra line from my service entrance to support another air conditioner specifically for my office, but it’s too hot to crawl under the house.
At these temperatures, a few degrees don’t mean anything, but I’d love to have your relative humidity. Even with that, I don’t envy your need to be out in the garden.
I finally lost my “zombie petunia” which has lasted a in a planter for years. The roots must have been “boiled”.
Depending on the color of the pot it was in that was probably the case. Even the hardy parsley I have on my deck in a giant pot that is watered everyday is showing signs of distress. The only thing in the garden enjoying this weather is the okra…I am swimming in it and can’t give it away fast enough. Cukes folded up as are the tomatoes.
It was a dark terra cotta, but it was plastic. The “saucer” was full and the soil moist, but even the weeds I could see after the petunias died were limp, indicating root damage. The same weeds in the ground are fine, so it was the conditions in the planter.
Alas, okra requires people who know what to do with it. These days that number is dwindling.
