"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

He has become a handsome younger gentleman, especially since his fur has fluffed out for winter.
It is rare to catch him stationary. He is normally dashing about and bouncing off things. He is a fine looking tom.
Quite a pose!
I was a bit surprised when I did the cropping from the original, as it looks like one of those poses used for cat show winners, albeit without the satin fabric background.
He’s obviously not afraid of you. 🙂 And he is a rather dashing lad! 😀
gosh, what a good-looking gray mackerel tabby! [says the human who lives with a gray mackerel tabby]. yes, I’m a sucker for those tabby faces.
Hadley appears to have a bit less animosity toward the human race than does my lucrezia Borgia kitty.
‘Dashing’ is certainly apropos of Hadley, as he does a lot of it.
Hadley now lives with the ‘rope’ man, and has even been seen with a collar for short periods. When food is being dished out he ignores people who stroke him. He has figured out the relationship between humans and food, and will be your BFF – OK, not Forever, but as long as the food keeps appearing.
Living with a Lucrezia builds character, Hipparchia, and improves first aid and home repair skills 😉
“Living with a Lucrezia builds character”
it certainly gets you a reputation for being a character. the home inspectors came out, found some things, the home repair people came out, fixed some things, and the home inspectors came out again to ok the repairs… the lucrezia kitty stalked them all, the entire time, and I stalked her the whole time, carrying a broom, just in case she decided to escalate the curses, hisses, and growls to actions involving teeth and claws.
possibly my trust in her is displaced, but I don’t worry overmuch about anybody breaking into the house while she lives here. 😉
My cats will warn me of an intruder by knocking things over on their way into hiding. 🙂
The broom was a good idea because once they get into the hissing/growling mood, almost anything could set them off. Female cats are very territorial and are less likely to back down than males.
most of mine just… disappear, so not much warning from them usually. unless they’re dead asleep on top of me and dig their claws into me for the little take-off assist. 😀
I’m not sure the broom would have been enough if she had really meant to back up her opinions with action, but it was all that was handy at the time.
When they go into ‘cat fit’ mode anything is better than a bare hand [he says from painful experience…]
