Japanese Tremors
Rescue under way after powerful tremors strike Japan.
According to the US Geological Survey there have 130 events in the last 7 days with a magnitude of 4.5 or greater, and 40 of them occurred on Kyushu, the southwestern-most of the four main Japanese islands in the last two days. The island was bisected by the tremors including a 6.0, 6.2, and a 7.0 in a cluster near the city of Kumamoto.

New Zealand stages first Pastafarian wedding on pirate boat. Not only is it considered a religion, but a Pastafarian has qualified to perform legal weddings as a “ministeroni”.
Meanwhile in Canada, the RCMP refugee screening has been a $16M flop, says internal report. Basically, the report says that it was ill-conceived from the beginning as people seeking asylum from other countries are not likely to have had contact with local police agencies in Canada and there is no Canada wide system for criminal reporting, much less a system that will directly connect with Canadian immigration. Given the limited time available to make a decision, the whole thing was a waste of resources.
