Chris Froome made back his 24 second deficit to Fabio Aru, but he needs a bigger lead to feel comfortable in the Yellow Jersey.

Note: Wikipedia has a simple article on the Mountain classification used on the Tour. The basic fact is that climbs fall into five types, with the four numbered types decreasing in difficulty as the numbers get larger, and then there is the Hors Catégorie, literally “without category”, which generally makes you look for an elevator or Sherpas.

OT, I awoke today long before dawn’s crack and read a day-old news story about Chinese scientists who successfully teleported about 900 pairs of quantum-entangled particles from Earth to a low-orbit satellite. 900 successes out of about a million attempts may not seem like very many, but it was enough to keep alive hopes of a future internet with vastly improved speed, so I thought it was the best news of the new day.
But then I switched on TV to PBS, which was rebroadcasting last year’s Peg+Cat special, in which Peg and her Cat are tasked by the President with devising a means “to save our planet from a pig’s behind.” I can only hope Robert Mueller was watching…
Quantum entanglement is really ‘magick’ on a molecular scale. I understand what they are staying but still get a headache trying to get my mind around it. I would be thrilled if I could get the speed I paid for without having to reset my system every other day.

I am reading Musser’s book, Spooky Action at a Distance; the title is what Einstein reportedly said when someone first described the phenomenon to him. I think somewhere or other we have misconstructed the notion of “distance,” and somehow those particles are really at the same place at the same time, i.e., effectively the same particle. I’ll certainly concede the “spooky” attribute, though.
Oh, I could never trust anyone who loves triangles!
Yeah, but people who love triangles are certainly less of a hazard than love triangles in my view. 😉
This generally involves photons which are sitting on the edge between two states [particle/wave] so we may be sampling two points in an ultra long wave, rather than two separate particles. We may lack the instruments to measure what is going on because everything we currently have is constrained by the speed of light. If that makes any sense. We inhabit a universe that exists between absolute zero and the speed of light and can’t know what exists beyond those limits.
