"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Great facial expression. He’s either about to scratch, or just finished a sneeze… maybe both.
Friday Ark #123…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Do link to the…
…or lick his nose! ( I see a sliver of pink tongue on the move.)
But – just as an aside on Iraq solutions – and in respone to yer comment over at me blog: wouldn’t it be easier to negotiate (or have troops redeployed to Kurdish areas) to prevent a Turkish invasion…provided that the other partitioning efforts might also work out to stabilize those factions?
Again…not a perfect (easy) nor less life-threatening solution…but this same-ole same-ole of expecting the Maliki govt to replace the iron fist of Saddam to forced this reunited Iraq to exist again is a total loser. (and with our troops in the middle of it)
Any ideas?
Steve, he vigorously scratched his left cheek right after the picture was taken with his white rear paw.
Karen, he licked his paw before scratching.
OT: He has ignored the concerns of the Turks, like everyone else in the area. They haven’t been happy about the effect of the invasion on the Kurdish area and I don’t think the Turks are ready to believe anything we say. The US didn’t take Turkish concerns into consideration, which is why they refused to allow transit through Turkey for the invasion.
The solution was to have divided the Ottoman Empire into nations along ethnic lines after World War I, but without a regional war, that isn’t going to happen today. The Shi’ites would control all of the oil except the reserves in northern Iraq, including the Saudi reserves, if that had been done. The “solution” at the end of World War I is at the root of today’s problems, and was the reason no one should have messed with the status quo in the area.
What a great shot, I love his markings
PJ, Blaze was a cute kitten, but is not too bright.
Hahm now I do love that expression Bryan
Is this where I leave the comment praising your insightful writing? 😉
I’ll tell him, Jams.
This is the place, Jim, but you forgot the forty links to drug and insurance sites.
My bad — next time I’ll post all of the links from my spambox, will that suffice?
(On second thought, maybe I won’t. I’d hate to be classed as a bushwhacker, given who else you put in that category!)
While I understand why they do it, my favorite plug-in for WordPress is the Spam Nuker. Keeping that junk in the comments table just adds to my overhead. I know that it helps to identify spam, but I don’t have a problem doing that myself.
Off the top of my head, five or more links shifts a comment to moderation automatically, even my comments, so the garbage is never seen. It’s just a waste of resources and bandwidth.
Wow! Blaze is a beautiful creature. I want to hold and pet that fine feline!
He isn’t friendly, OWL, but may mellow as he ages.
