Happy Christmas

At 6AM CST Christmas arrives in Asia, and the excitement is building among the “rug rats” that will burst forth at any moment to waken their poor parents who have probably had about two hours of sleep after dealing with “some assembly required” and/or “batteries not included”.

To avoid any bad feelings: it is an official requirement contained in the “Manual for Childless Adults” that some form or type of device that makes loud and obnoxious noises must be included in all Christmas parcels for children [of all ages].

Which said device will be included with aforementioned child as they are dropped off at your house for a surprise babysitting job…

Amazing how those devices run out of batteries and break so quickly….

So, you are going to drop the child off at my house where there are sugar cookies, cupcakes, hard candy, cocoa with mini-marshmallows, and the possibility of being introduced to the joys of expresso, is that the plan?

Yes, we would plan to be gone for about two weeks….

So, I should save the fresh batteries and goodies for the morning of the 14th day…

That is definitely not my attitude, and I certainly wouldn’t purchase such a device because I know they are going home after I juice them up 😈

That is the major benefit of being an uncle, or grandparent 🙂

LOL I usually tell people I have no problem looking after their kid/s, because I get to give them back, and their time spent with me will be fun and educational, by my standards of education! 😉 Most either just smile or laugh… very few know me enough to look concerned! Their kids are guaranteed to return with many questions. Some of which, they will not know how to answer, or care to! 😉 😀 I figure it’s my sworn duty as an adult and guardian. LOL

Speaking of education, here are a few example I collected that show all is not lost! At least, not for the children. The ‘education system’ however, is another story!

Pretty much what I would have said! Well done. 😀

I’m sorry. But how does the teacher know that the kid’s answer is wrong? Just because it’s not the answer the teacher wanted. Given my experience of the World, the kid has a good chance of being correct.

It’s brilliant! LOL Glad s/he got an A+ for creativity, well deserved. The kid answered all the questions, and showed that most were ambiguous. Shouldn’t have gotten the ‘F’ really.

That’s education for you. Destroy creativity, reward mediocrity and rote learning. No wonder we are so FUBAR! 😛 😉

PS. I have more if anyone wants. 😀

That said, you do understand the problem with extracting 10C of heat out of water that is 10C, right? It’s a problem of Titanic proportions 🙂 .

Yeah, in addition to freezing the boat in place you would also be dealing with a localized thunderstorm caused by the rising warm air. Of course, the question doesn’t address why anyone would want to do it in the first place. [We really are geeks, dealing with this as if it was important.]

There actually is a field of study that deals with creating reasonable tests that actually make sense to the students that will take them. It is poorly funded and generally ignored. The biggest problem with on-line tests is that they simply use the existing exams which are already one of the major problems.

That said, it is nice to see a few students showing some creativity and having fun when they know they aren’t going to get the answer the teacher wants.

Badtux! You made a pun! You feeling OK? Bit too much schnapps at Christmas maybe? That stuff is bad for penguins ya know! 😉 LOL

Yep, Bryan! 😀

Here, try something different, but quite imaginative and fun! 😀

“Whose afraid of the big bad wolf? Not me!”

This is from a series of Photo’s by John Wilhelm, a 44-year old IT director at Swiss university. He creates wacky Photo Manips with his 3 daughters Lou (5 years), Mila (2years), Yuna (6 months) & Wife (Judith), and Dog (who is apparently a real ham!) 😉 LOL

They are just so adorable! 😀 Had me smiling and chuckling for hours! 😀

See them here and enjoy! 😀

What a way to embarrass your daughters when they become teenagers 😉

He does capture some amazing shots of the expressions of his kids.
