Iraq War

Five years, over 4,000 dead when you count those who died of their wounds after returning to the States, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead, a former country in tatters with no infrastructure and a civil war in progress, a cost measured in trillions of dollars in debt, tens of thousands of Americans wounded in mind and body, and all for nothing.

There was no threat, no ties to al Qaeda, no WMDs – lies, all lies.

And the people who did this to the world get to finish their terms in office because our elected representatives don’t have the courage to impeach and punish them.

And today, on the anniversary of the invasion, we will get to hear fearless leader proclaim how well the “surge” is working. And that if we withdraw now we will “embolden the terrorists”. Therefore we must “stay the course” and fight “the war on terror” against the “enemies of freedom”. I’m sure he’ll toss “homeland security” in there a few times too.

The Shrubbery doesn’t sound as sincere as LBJ did during the last major Asian land war, nor as articulate, which is rather astounding.

The funding needs to stop and people need to be impeached so they can be prosecuted. There is no better way to step onto the road to recovery.
