Get A Map

The geographic illiteracy of Rmoney’s ‘national security/foreign policy’ team is pathetic.

The Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia have been off maps for a while. It might shock Liz Cheney [daughter of Dick ‘Dick’ Cheney] but Czechoslovakia didn’t exist during either of her two stints as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs in the Hedgemony.

Oh, we also haven’t supported the Hittites, the Mayans, or the Inca, for pretty much the same reason – their empires are gone.

Maps are so 20th century. Everybody just Googles everything nowadays. Soviet Union still shows up in Google, so it must still exist, right? 😈

They had such a wonderful boogie man in the Soviet Union .. even Condi Rice did all her grad work studying the evil empire. If they could just goad the Soviet.. I mean Russia into attacking something we are interested in like say… Syria… we could start the Cold War all over again. That would make the neocons very happy.

And Obama did too ignore Czechoslovakia! You can’t deal with a country that has ceased to exist! And ignore the Mayans at your peril! 2012 isn’t over yet!!11!!!1

Perhaps he plans to foster good relations with the Holy Roman Empire

So, since I can find Romney, unicorns, and Harry Potter on Google, they must be real, right?

Yes, Ellroon, they miss the ‘good old days’ of Mutually Assured Destruction and using your school desk as a bomb shelter. How, they found several thousand more years worth of Mayan calendar at another site, so 2012 isn’t as ‘special’ as some people had hoped. [OT: I love the ‘discount tent’ graphic.]

The HRE represents his ideal world, Jams – united, theocratic, and ruled by a corrupt aristocracy. What could be better?

Bryan, some Christians your way are burning Harry Potter books, so apparently they do think witches, at least, are real.

Regarding the “good old days” of M.A.D., they were way profitable for a lot of people. Remember that defense spending approached 10% of GDP during some years of those “good old days”, which was pork galore for many a defense contractor. Now we’re hard-pressed to hit 4% GDP defense spending, so of *course* they pine for the good old days when they were ripping us off for 6% more .

Regarding the Holy Roman Empire, it was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. It was basically a personal feifdom of the Carolingian dynasty but spun apart rapidly after Charlemagne’s demise until it basically was a loose coalition of independent states with a powerless elected monarch rather than a united entity. Hmm, now that I think of it, that does resemble what Rmoney and his ilk prefer, since they find it easier to corrupt individual states than to corrupt the whole US government…

Only 6 weeks to the ‘Harvest Festival’, because Halloween is too evil and pagan. “Simple people… the common clay…”

It is all about throwing money at defense contractors in the name of “national security”. What bullshit!

The problem with the original HRE is that Karl der Grosser followed his tribal law and divided ‘his land’ among his sons, rather than leaving it unified. As someone with two brothers I could have explained the problem with that concept in depth. As soon as the central authority disappeared things started to come apart. Looking at the EU it is obvious that a unified Europe isn’t going to happen any time soon.
