I own a book titled something like The Amendment that Would Not Die, referring of course to the Fourteenth Amendment, which survived numerous assassination attempts in Congress and a few rewrites, only to become a mainstay source of civil liberties and civil rights protections. I am beginning to view Hurricane Maria (2017) as occupying a similar status among recent hurricanes. Not that Maria protects anything, but it is a survivor…
Lee has been around a bit longer, but took a few days of ‘comp’ time in the middle. Bloody Jose hung aroung for almost three weeks. It’s getting absurd.
