"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

I can imagine that they would be off like greased lightning if you went closer!

They must have inherited their problem from their father, because their mother was about a foot away from me and totally unconcerned. She isn’t friendly, but she doesn’t get “spooked” by my presence.
I was 10 feet away when I took the picture, but they were watching me intently. At 9 feet they would have evaporated.
Clearly on the lookout for monsters… and in their world, monsters have two legs. Given what humankind has done to this planet, I can’t say that I disagree with them.

Yep, I’m the axe murderer to half of the kittens born around here.
Good luck on the move, BTW. I hope that TMF and Mencken take it better than Dot, who has carved her displeasure on my hide on both of the moves she has experienced.
Sweeties! I couldn’t see the (mostly)gray’s head for a bit. It looked like the other was laying there with extra legs… perhaps a spider cat of some type. They sure are cute!
They may not be good at much else, OWL, but they have learned how to hide.
