CNN reports that Florida’s Repubs don’t like Governor ‘Goodhair’:

Orlando, Florida (CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s presidential campaign was dealt a worrying blow Saturday when he finished in a distant second place to businessman Herman Cain in a closely watched straw poll in Florida.

Cain won 37% of the 2,657 votes cast in the straw poll conducted at Presidency 5, a three-day convention sponsored by the Republican Party of Florida that brought thousands of party activists to Orlando.

Perry’s campaign had courted Presidency 5 delegates for weeks and printed up glossy fliers that were distributed throughout the convention hall in Orlando, but the Texas governor captured just 410 votes, or 15.4% of the vote.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney finished third with 14%.

It’s all about fund-raising, and these results don’t inspire donors. The Repubs are running out of time to find a candidate that is acceptable to a majority of their party, without even considering a majority of voters in the general election.

Herman Cain? Dude is the second coming of Alan Keyes. He’s as unhinged as Michele Bachmann, but without any sex appeal. Florida Republicans must be *really* peeved at the current lineup of GOP “leaders” to straw poll him as #1.

It was totally off-the-wall. I don’t think the people who voted for him had the slightest inkling he would win… or they really like his pizza.

They may have assumed that being a CEO made him a good choice, but it really looks like a ‘none of the above’ choice to me.

Uhm, I’ve eaten his pizza. It ain’t all that, if ya get my drift.

I decidedly agree with you though, this was more a vote *against* the front runners, than *for* Alan Keyes II.

I might think differently if there was any evidence of a sense of humor among these people, but I have seen no evidence to support that – and a lot of evidence that suggests they have no idea what humor is.

They believe humor consists of threatening to hurt someone. At least, when you call one of the right-wing thugs on their threats, they look hurt and say “but it was just a joke!”. Uhm, oooookay, step away from the crack pipe…

Ah, yes – “If you weren’t so ‘Politically Correct’ you would get the joke” excuse for the hate that characterizes their mindsets.
