Bad Ideas Never Die

The Republicans keep repeating them.

On a day when the most popular story around the world would seem to be Pink Floyd pig flies over London again, the College Republicans prove they don’t have a clue.

CNN reports that Pay-by-race bake sale at UC Berkeley still on, student Republican group says.

If the tactic seems familiar, it is because this is, as David Weigel notes at Slate, the Ninth Anniversary edition of this bit of racist theater. It is designed to invoke outrage so the College Republicans can prove they are victims.

Update: Oh, yes, according to the College Republicans this is satire, which people would understand of “they had a sense of humor”.

As this is taking place at a member of the University of California system, they should shut up and thank the state that there are quotas or all of the students would be Asian, based on entrance exams and academic records.

Ah yes, the old “if you don’t tolerate my intolerance, you’re intolerant!” argument. Because, y’know, people criticizing Hitler for, like, killing most of the Jews of Europe, are just being intolerant haters. Alrighty, then!

Given the unemployment rate among recent college graduates, I would hope these people are planning to go into the family business when they finish school, because I can’t imagine an HR department passing on this sort of thing, and in the age of the ‘Net it will show up in the background check.

Nobody wants to borrow trouble with new hires.

This whole ‘we are victims’ thing smacks of something that they need to discuss with a counselor.

These are the people who “grow up” to raffle off a Glock (or whatever it was) as a fundraiser door prize, as was done by the GOP in Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s district. There should be a picture of that scene in the dictionary next to the word “tasteless.”

From the look of most of them, they can’t be trusted in a kitchen, there would be too many ways for them to hurt themselves and sue each other.

Why would anyone buy food from a group that doesn’t believe in government regulations?

They are the ultimate Communists – totally without class.

Sounds like the bullies who punch you and then demand why you can’t take a joke…

They should be glad they got in, and try to learn something useful, but that isn’t the way they were raised. They have faced obstacles for the first time in their lives and need to find someone to blame.
