On September 11^th, 2001 approximately 3,000 people died and it took over 9 years to find the individual most responsible – why?

Katia has picked up the ‘polar spin’ which is why it has accelerated. All storms do it at the upper latitudes. It will transition to an extra-tropical storm within a day and continue on, possibly hitting northern Scotland or Norway with tropical storm force winds.
