Busy With Real Life

Since Isaac can’t make up it’s mind where to go, I’m running around and ensuring that I have all of the standard procedures for these storms covered.

Just remember that your last purchase should be at least a gallon of your favorite outrageously expensive ice cream. Since it is too expensive to waste, and the power could go out at any time, you obviously have to eat all of it as quickly as possible.

It has been a few years since we have had one in the area, so people have let things go, which has resulted in a lot of crowds out and about.

They haven’t raised the price of gas yet, but they will. Now that they have ethanol in it you can’t store it for extended periods or it will absorb water, especially with all the rain we’ve had. You can just add a preservative to regular gas and it is good for the entire season, but you have to use the new stuff within a month.

I’ll be by for the updates, but little else for the next few days.

Good luck m8! Here’s hoping you don’t get hit. But, if you do, I’m sure you’ll be ready and safe. 🙂

Yup! Gotta get the priorities right and proper! 😆

Hey!! One of the local (enterprising) confectionery stored (where I can get decent sugar free confectionery for outrageous prices) has decided to stock some unusual (for here anyway) US goods. Not just the usual suspects that many have, lick Doc Pepper, Hershey, etc. The stocked the AriZona Beverages brand of drinks. I discovered these about 10y ago when OS and haven’t seen them since. You lucky sod’s get them for .99c (which for a big 680 ml/23 oz can is insane), but they are $3 here (which isn’t bad really). I got a few, a Green Tea with Georgia Peach & Ginseng, Arnold Palmer Half & Half Zero (half tea / half lemonade no-cal), and a Kiwi-Strawberry juice (one of my fave flavor combo’s). I’m just enjoyed the Peach/Green tea. Nice! 😀

There are some good things still made in the USA! 😉 😛 😆

Well, the drinks are probably safe until they destroy the water supply with fracking to get natural gas to export to Europe, just like all of the ‘surplus’ oil that is shipped to Europe to avoid having to reduce the price of petrol. Enjoy, but it is usually over a dollar a bottle in local stores.

At the moment it doesn’t look like it will be more than a Category 2 at landfall, which could be anywhere in the northern Gulf at this point. This storm is just weird.

*sigh* Yeah… I hear you about the water. Our Gov screwed our water supply years ago. Almost everyone here drinks bottled water now! Insane…

Cat 2 isn’t too bad. 🙂 A little *weird* now and then is good! Keeps the interest up, otherwise *same old, same old* get’s boring! 😀 😉

You are one heck of a switched on guy, whatever happens, I’m sure you’ll be ready for it. 🙂

I’m ready, but I’m doing a lot of make work to calm people down. There are things I would really like to be doing, but if I don’t take these things seriously, the people around me who aren’t prepared won’t do anything. I’m playing a part in ‘preparedness theater’ at this point.

At least you get warning about hurricanes. I was sitting down at my kitchen table drinking my coffee while reading the news this morning when I felt a rumble in my feet and looked up and saw the chains hanging from the (turned off) ceiling fan start wagging back and forth. After twenty seconds or so the rumble tapered off and the chains slowly wobbled to a stop, but one of these days it’s just going to get louder and louder and louder until the house shakes itself down around me. Which will make the 10 gallons of water and couple of weeks worth of food and fuel to cook it that are in my garage somewhat less than useful even if I remembered to rotate it regularly…

Stay safe and dry, Bryan!

This morning I’m thinking of the fisherman to the West of me who can’t catch a break. One of the really bad things that a storm going to the West will cause is bringing up the oil from the Well from Hell that is sitting on the floor of the Gulf and in the silt along the coast. It didn’t evaporate or break down, it is still there and people are going to see it again.

Yeah, Badtux, I wasn’t a fan of the earth deciding to move around without telling me it was going to.

This isn’t an Opal, Ivan, or Dennis. we’ll make it through fairly dry. Local governments know how to do this, even if the governor is an incompetent CEO.
