Sox April, 1998 – May 25, 2013
He has lost a lot of weight in the last year, but was still eating like his old self. I haven’t posted any pictures of him because he looked gaunt, rather than his former roly-poly self.
Yesterday he didn’t eat in the morning, but bounced back in the afternoon, so I thought his stomach was upset. He also stopped grooming recently which is a bad sign. Then today he lost strength in his rear legs and fell from the chest he normally sleeps on.
It was probably a stroke, but whatever the cause he stopped eating, refusing food all day, and making futile attempts to regain the top of the chest.
It was time and putting it off wouldn’t make it easier for either one of us.

my condolences on the loss of your friend.
So sorry, Borya. He will be with the others waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
So sorry for the loss of your little fur friend.
Bryan, I am saddened to hear of your loss. Sox has been with you for as long as I’ve known you; I know it must have hurt you a lot to lose him. Every living creature eventually steps on that rainbow; Sox’s time to do so was much later thanks to your kind attention and caring over the years. Thank you for sharing him with us in pictures.
I appreciate all of your thoughts. Sox was a major source of the comedy relief in my life, always doing something that would break me out of any mood I might be in at the time. The big change is that he was the only one of the cats who was vocal. If you meowed, he would carry on an extended conversation, no matter where he was in the house, which is also the main reason I knew which disasters he had caused.
Truly sorry my friend. 🙁
It’s the price we pay for having animals as companions. I miss every one I ever had, some more than others. It would be nice if they lived as long as we did, or maybe vice-versa. 😉
*sigh* Yeah… it’s never easy, and every one hurts as much as the ones before.
Still, at least you have the others to keep you company still. That’s something. 🙂
I miss not having a furry friend around, even knowing the eventual price.
Take care, and spend time with your furry friends. 🙂
Property is looking for him as he was always her buddy, willing to play, but not as rough as her brother. She groomed him daily as if he was her kitten, so I have been hanging with her more than I usually do. Excise knows something is different, but can’t figure out what.
Unless it is under special circumstances, I won’t be adopting another cat. I don’t want to outlive one.
