I started doing this 17 years ago after the American electorate committed an act of supreme self destruction and gave the Shrubbery a second 4 years to screw things up. It would appear that people are becoming aware that Republicans just can’t help themselves and attempt to destroy the nation every time they are given a chance to sit in the Oval Office.

Clinton left the Shrubbery with budget surpluses and the Shrubbery left Obama with the Global Financial Crisis. Obama left Trump with a growing economy and Trump leaves Biden with a crippled economy and over a quarter million dead Americans.

As long as I can I will respond to the important things: the World Cup, the Iditarod & Yukon Quest, Tour de France, and tropical storms.

Politics are the static on life’s radio, so you have to deal with them. You try to ignore them until you can no longer hear the music.

17 years… A very good run. 👍

I’m glad you are still around Bryan. At the least, I have some consistency in my life! 😊

And thanks. Sincerely.

Thank you for hanging on and hanging around.

Your politicians are attempting to catch up with Republicans with terminal stupidity – “growling” at another senator? That’s M.T. Greene territory.

Oh, the big box is back, it was just the power supply. Turned it on and it booted right up so all of the programs with updates could bitch at me for not dealing with that for a couple of months. Linux was better at the problem than Windows, as you would expect.

You are welcome my friend. 😀

The LNP have zero imagination. Even their scams are boringly obvious! So it’s no surprise they copy the GOP. I’m sure Dotard gave Scummo an autographed copy of his playbook when they met. Scummo admires Dotard so much! He dreams of being a master of the scam! 🤦‍♂️🤬

Must be the time for PSU problems! It’s telling that my model had it’s warranty reduced from 10 to 7 yrs at some point.🤔 Though, mine would still be under Warranty anyway, by about 8 Mths. 🤷‍♂️

Our crappy NBN Internet is boing a PITA this week! Disconnecting often. I even see the router trying to reconnect when I’m not using the ‘net. Posted a tweet about it with some follow up & comments. Yet another LNP scam!🤬

Mine wasn’t unexpected as I had an extra supply available because I wasn’t confident that my old unit would work with the new motherboard. The early symptoms pointed at a power problem, but I was concerned that the problem might take out other components. Oh, M$ has informed me that my new processor and motherboard aren’t compatible with Win 11, so when Win 10 goes to end of life, it will be a Linux box.

I had no confidence in the hybrid compromise that NBN decided to install. Complexity always leads to problems. We have the same issues in this country with the same results – a lack of reliability. When there’s a problem, the people in charge use the differences to stall a solution.

Has anyone told the LNP that Trump lost big time, over 7 million votes. There are fraud cases being found and charged, but so far the criminals have all been Republicans. Trump voters are also more likely than Biden voters to die from Covid, so the 2022 election is not looking good. These people are terminally stupid.

My dead PSU is on it’s way to Corsair for RMA. I’m in no rush. A PSU dying & taking other parts with it is a real concern. I was lucky. I suspect that it was the main input filter that bit the dust.

NBN continued to be totally unreliable until Wed. Then it was down until after 7 PM. I hoped that meant the issue was being repaired (I suspected the local node was down again for the 2nd time in 4 years). It has been stable since. Time will tell. Amusingly… NBN sent me an eMail notification that my NBN connection would be unavailable for several hours. Apparently, they thought I could read eMail’s without Internet! 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I suppose if I had a working Mobile phone, I could have. My new one hasn’t arrived yet. I expected that would take awhile at this time of year during the Pandemic.

LNP like the GOP don’t believe in reality. They live in their own fantasy universe.

I see that the House voted to hold Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress. And twitter is all a flutter over MTG looking very worried! Interestingly, it was Liz Cheney that read several text messages turned over by Mark Meadows, from Fox bobble heads and Trump Jr, regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Hopefully, when the DOJ is done with them all… Their arses are in prison for a long time!

You probably already saw this one (and I certainly know what you think of DeSantis & agree), Scarborough has had enough of him also.

Joe Scarborough Goes OFF on Yale/Harvard Educated Ron DeSantis Playing a Dope on Television: ‘So Insulting!’

It’s a real DUH! moment I’m sure! 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

In the days of dial-up I remember modem manufacturers telling people to go on their web site for assistance. No one is hired for common sense or logical thinking anymore. The local cable company used their own telephone over ip system for their locations so when they went down the only way you could report the outage was to stop by one of their stores. These are the kind of people who have no back-ups newer than a year, if they have ever backed up their system.

Sending out emails to announce outages sounds like maintenance of hardware or software. The timing indicates an emergency in the US. Usually down time for maintenance is scheduled for the weekend. Here’s hoping things are stabilized for a while.

The Senator from Louisiana is the real fraud. John Neely Kennedy wants people to believe he’s a hick, which is hard for people who attended Magdalen College of Oxford University to pull off. Trump attracts the con artists and frauds to his circle. The Southern Republicans all wanted to star in a Tennessee Williams play.

So… Friday morning, I did something stupid, again. And paid. Again.

The LED light in my bedroom was flickering and being annoying. So I decided to change it, I keep a few spares. It’s above my bed, so I got up on the bed and was fine, took out the old bulb and was just inserting the new one when… I suddenly became disoriented & the room span. The top half of me ended on the floor & the bottom half stayed on the bed. I couldn’t move for a few minutes, but when I did I felt a serious pain in my lower back that I knew well. I took some deep breathes, focused and moved my legs off the bed onto the floor with the rest of me. After the pain subsided, I knew I had to get up. It was tricky, but I managed it. Took a couple strong pain med’s I have and sat on the bed for awhile. I knew I’d torn at least one muscle and maybe strained more. I called my clinic and found my GP was away for a for awhile, so I saw someone else there. He agreed with my assessment. Luckily, I still had that abdominal girdle thing I got when I had the Surgery to fix the hernia & remove my appendix a few years ago. It wraps around my abdomen like a very wide thick bandage and has a Velcro strip along one edge to attach. That’s been a great help, along with some Dencorub Extra Strength gel I keep because I hurt various muscles a lot.

The biggest problem is sleeping. I found the best way is to sleep sitting upright on my couch, it’s actually a Divan and has a solid steel frame. The arm rests are the same height as the back, so I sat in the corner & piled up cushions and pillows on the other side so I could have my arms equal height and my legs stretched out onto a lounge chair I moved into position. Seamed to work well and I got some sleep.

Today I called my clinic again to make a GP appointment, and learned that my GP had fractured a rib! Seriously… What are the chances? She fractures a rib and I tear a muscle connected to the same rib!

Anyway, it’s slowly getting better. I have to go to my local Pharmacy and get some prescriptions I ran out of and other things this afternoon. I should be OK for that. It’s usually a 10-15 minute walk, will likely take longer this time. 🙂

I decided to stay away from bad news and checked some of my favorite science/tech/geeky sites. This one was my favorite I think. But laughing with a torn back muscle is not fun! (Neither is sneezing I discovered on Saturday!) So have a laugh for me! I”m sure you’ll enjoy this. 😀

I hope you are doing a lot better than I am my friend. Stay safe and well (I know! I should take my own advice! But It’s not like I did it on purpose!) 😉

Ouch! The problem with being ultra-active in your younger years is that it comes back to bite you later in life. Take it slow. I never give away braces or supports that I bought earlier as they will be useful later. Lift belts are handy for a lot of activities for preventing injury as well as recovering.

The Tannenbaum rocket was a hoot! (extremely funny in rural Southern). Multiple crafts involved and willing participants, including their local Lowe’s hardware store.

I’m avoiding people and places because of a lack of belief in the deadly nature of Covid-19. It’s like the locals are daring the virus to kill them. I’m avoiding becoming collateral damage.

Get better. The world will probably still be here when you’re better.

10 hipparchia { 12.22.21 at 6:29 pm }

the christmas tree rocket was wonderful. thank you, and merry christmas, kryten!

11 Kryten42 { 12.23.21 at 8:28 pm }

Hiya hipparchia! 👋😊 I wish you, Bryan and anyone else who sees this a great day (tomorrow as I post this)!

That video was a lot of fun! One reason I watch Xyla and Joe. They are not afraid to have fun! I’ve also learned a few things. Bonus! 😉😎

Here is a case in point! Enjoy (I sure did)! 😂👍

I am feeling a lot better.👍 And sleeping on my bed!🛌😴 Yayyyyy…

Oh! Check out this young lass. You know I was a drummer as a lad. This girl (11 in this vid I think) has skills and talent I could only dream of! And There are other boys & girls that I’ve been watching with awesome talent & skill.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3UPOZkcLPg

I hope that 2022 is a better year for us all! Be safe and well my friends. 👋🥰

Happy Christmas [or nondenominational holiday of your choice]!!

Xyla has so much enthusiasm for such a small package. She has so much fun doing very technical things in a very approachable way. Going from beauty pageants to a balloon launch to the stratosphere is not exactly a obvious track.

The girl in the Czechoslovakia has Talent video is certainly ready to join a band. That drum kit is certainly a major investment, especially the cymbals. I assume you’ve seen Nandi Bushell, the British-Zulu born in 2010 who is a fierce drummer and has played with major Rock players.

Bed time for me, and glad to hear that you can use yours again, M8.

13 Kryten42 { 12.23.21 at 10:51 pm }

Thanks Bryan. And back at you. 👍😊

Xyla has some very whacky, yet fun and educational video’s. She is one of my “go to’s” when I’m down.

Oh yes! I’ve tweeted about Nandi Bushel & other young musicians and artists. I loved her Rock & Grohl series, where she took on Dave Grohl (Nirvana & Foo Fighters) and he was great with her. 👍😎

This is a more recent one of Nicoletta playing a Metallica piece that even experienced drummers have trouble with! She just makes it look so easy. This is also a good video because you can see the ease, fun & enthusiasm she has. Not to mention the perfect timing and skill!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTl_yjP56Ao

For myself, I’m spending the day cating up on game time! I’ve decided to play a favorite of mine, Diablo III Reaper of Souls. I posted a tweet about it.

https://twitter.com/Kryten_42/status/1474214723709128706

I had a great nights sleep last night! First in a week! I haven’t needed any morphine, or even aspirin today (almost 4 PM now), and only one shot yesterday. Though I am being very careful of course. I know it wouldn’t take much to undo the repair work my body has been busy with!

Sleep well my friend! Sleep well. And thank you for being here for me. It’s meant a great deal! You have helped keep me sane.

14 Bryan { 12.24.21 at 9:40 pm }

She was on a better kit in the first video. I assume that was the studio kit for the contest and she had her own kit in the second video.

Nandi also plays guitar and bass, possibly anything she picks up. In Britain she can get the instruction to hone her skills. Eastern Europe still prefers the symphony instruments in their schools, which is annoying to musicians like Nicoletta who have obvious talent in other areas of music. You had to be in the army to sing folk songs in the Soviet Union, which is another problem with so-called “Communism” .

It is always better to sleep in your own bed – it adapts to your body after a while and put things in alignment. I’m glad you can forgo the drugs well before they become a problem. There are too many local vets whose problems started with overprescribed meds.

Thank you for saying I provide some service with this “hobby”. BTW, I’m following you on the ‘bluebird of trivia’ and stay up to date on it.

15 Kryten42 { 12.26.21 at 7:28 pm }

Agree. The contest kit probably was provided, though it can take some time to adjust to unfamiliar instruments.

Both Nandi & Nicoletta’s parents (or one at least) are also musicians. That helps a lot. In any case, they certainly are talented! It’s a bitter-sweet passion of mine checking out what the youth of the World is doing, in several areas. Bitter because many ‘adults’ seem hell-bent on destroying any future they have. 😖😟🤨

Yeah… Just one of many problems with what passes for ‘Communism’, ‘Democracy’ etc. Humans will always find a way to corrupt anything. 🤷‍♂️😠

‘bluebird of trivia’!👍😂 In many ways, yes. It is better than ‘Whingebook’ however. 😉😏

I tweeted another “The Ferguson Report” (Tim is a brilliant satirist that manages to make one laugh😂 & go “hmmmmm” at the same time. 🤔😖) Tim followed me! 😮😊😎👍 Sadly, Tim suffers from MS (Multiple Sclerosis). But doesn’t let it stop him. There are many reasons for me to respect & admire him.

I understand about having a hobby! Mine is gaming now. 😀

I became either bored or just damned frustrated by several MMO (massive multiplayer online) games. About 6 Months ago, I began playing an older MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). Not honestly sure why I didn’t play it years ago, too busy mainly I think. There are several Elder Scrolls universe desktop (or single player) games that I’ve owned & played for two Decades, and still do. ESO has a large library of community made Mod’s available to address some of it’s complexities & shortcomings that help a lot. 😀 This video (and his build guides) helped me decide. Luckily for me, I don’t really care much for the ‘cosmetic’ stuff in games, but I did buy the ESO Plus subscription service as it’s the cheapest way to get all the content (especially the several Expansions & Seasons, and in-game currency). I have two characters now & I am enjoying it. 👍😎

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEog6q9pBqw

I still play Destiny 2 now & then, but there is no way I am buying the next expansion! It’s just way overpriced, especially given the past 2 seasons have not been great!) Other MMO’s I like are Path of Exile, Black Desert Online and Guild Wars 2 (though I am finding GW2 very frustrating right now!)

I am still Beta testing King Arthur Knight’s Tale (and very much enjoying it! It’s due for launch in Feb.) and The Dyson Sphere Program, also close to final release).

Profit seeking is a delicate decision in the software world. I tend to pay more for freeware and shareware than I’m willing to pay for straight commercial apps and programs. I find that I’m willing to reward the people who allow me the time to really test their product in my environment. I get annoyed when there is no path to complete a level without a purchase. They are taking away my ability to choose. I am more apt to pay if I feel I would be too damaged for the next level if I don’t buy a ‘cushion’. It may just be my attitude, but that’s the way I feel.

Elder Scrolls is an oldie, but if it suits you, it’s a great game. The game has to envelop the gamer. It has to make sense to the individual and fill a need to be worth playing. If you start asking why something is happening, the game is losing you. To be successful you have to innovate within a consistent universe – things have to make sense.

I need to hit the memory foam. I hope we survive with our politics intact because I don’t want to revert to my survival school training.
