1980 – The Cable News Network (CNN) begins broadcasting.

If it wasn’t the start of the hurricane season, I would skip over the whole birthday thing, but I appreciate the thoughts.
I run the hurricane header for the entire season, Hipparchia, but the pirate bit is only around for the week in acknowledgment of the local Billy Bowlegs Excuse To Tie Up Traffic And Set Off Fireworks Festival.

Crowds? Surely you jest. It ties up traffic and annoys the cats, but I’ve never seen any real crowds.
