Hypocrisy Lives

On NPR’s Day to Day they ran a piece on the May Day immigration demonstrations and featured Congressman John Hostettler [R-Indiana].

Mr. Hostettler came on as “Mr. Law N. Order”. John really likes the laws of this country…well, most laws. He’s not really fond of laws about wandering around with a loaded 9mm Glock pistol in your carry-on bag.

“Alive and well”? Was there ever any reason to doubt that?

They just don’t have any shame.

Hostettler was tne nimrod who did that “great war on Christianity” speech on the floor of the House which Jon Stewart so wonderfully skewered on The Daily Show last year (IIRC):

Yes, the long war on Christianity. I pray that one day we
may live in an America where Christians can worship
freely! In broad daylight! Openly wearing the symbols of
their religion…. perhaps around their necks? And
maybe–dare I dream it?–maybe one day there can be an
openly Christian President. Or, perhaps, 43 of them.
Consecutively.

What would we do for comedy relief without the Hostettlers of the world?

I’m waiting for a comedy prize to be won by a press secretary.

Colbert’s whole act is acting like a “so-called journalist”.

This guy is pretty scary, when he “forgets” he’s wandering around with a loaded gun.

When you mentioned it, the floor speech about Christian persecution came flooding back with all of its absurdity.
