"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Two-hundred percent sounds like a winner. Let her live off the fruits of her musical ability.
I’m not exactly sure what would lead her to believe that she has what it takes to “interpret” genres born of the poor in the Caribbean and urban centers. What great injustice would she decry: valet parking fees?
Wow, well she’s the reason that the music industry is not doing so well. If you keep producing crap, from people who have no unique talent and all sound the same, then you are going to get more of the same crap.
This is why I don’t even turn on my radio — I use my IPOD.
With the exception of NPR, every station in my area is owned by the same company, so there’s not a lot of choice up here.
Maybe it’s her way of getting revenge for Pink’s Stupid Girls, which is pretty plainly directed at Paris and all the Paris-Lite(er) types that litter the landscape.
I guess even golden retrievers need to feel smarter than something and Hilton fills the bill.
Here’s yer money quote –
“Prestige reported the single, “Stars Are Blind,” will be released this month by Warner Records and her own label Heiress Records, followed by a full album later this year.”
Thank goodness for those tax cuts…without them, poor little rich girls couldn’t showcase their ‘talents’ on their own record label.
Starting a record label requires a $50 business license in my little town and another $50 for the other paper work for the state. If you are going all out you can get disk printer.
There are a couple of bad local bands who have their own labels. They look good and they have good equipment, but they can’t play together, so they can’t get a deal with one of the regional labels. If they ever learn to listen to each other they might get some where in the limited southern rock market.
I do wonder what it cost her to have Warner issue an EP.
Does this make us “playa haters?” I certainly hope so.
I’ve never been attracted to Hip Hop, but Reggae is a whole different scene. I hung around with a vet from Jamaica and he turned me on to the things he was getting from his family on the island. It feels right and after you pick up the language a lot of the songs are a hoot.
As for being a “playa hater”, I quite like Mexican beaches…oh, you mean playa with a long A. Always felt they were self-important twits like…well, like Paris Hilton.
