Ah – one of my former neighbors has moved to Alaska and was at these festivities. She emailed me that they had to truck in snow for the racecourse. Hope that works out …but could make for a strange run this year.
Recently the race has started warm and finished with a blizzard. It’s tough on the dogs who really don’t like temperatures above freezing, and melts and refreezing results in ice that injures there feet.
