Iran Hostage Crisis Day 9 or 79
Update: Via Avedon Carol of Sideshow, Terry Jones [of Monty Python] writes in The Guardian: Call that humiliation? – “No hoods. No electric shocks. No beatings. These Iranians clearly are a very uncivilised bunch.”
Just to help calm down the situation, after deciding to hold war games off the coast of Iran, now the US rejects Iran captives exchange. As Ellroon Rants from the Rookery puts it: Do as I say. [/snark]
The US raided an Iranian liaison office in Northern Iraq on January 11th and seized 5 Iranians working there. The Iranians have been “disappeared”, but no one is supposed to question what happened, and there is no contact between the prisoners and their government. The Iranians were there at the request of the regional government to coordinate border crossings.
The Iranians want to exchange the 15 UK personnel for the 5 Iranians. The US has produced no hard evidence that the Iranians were doing anything that wasn’t within their mandate in the agreement with Kurdish authorities, just as there is no hard evidence that the British personnel have done anything wrong.
An exchange would have gone a long way towards reducing tensions, but the Shrubbery can’t deal with reality. The history of Iran hostage rescue missions is not good.

The sloppiest case of manufacturing war that I’ve seen since… well, Iraq.
If anyone in a position of power has an IQ approaching room temperature, everyone will get to go home without any more deaths. We can always hope that common sense will prevail.
You just wonder if “accessory to kidnapping” is a high crime or misdemeanor.
🙂
Bryan, you pretty much explained it to yourself right there — “If anyone in a position of power has an IQ approaching room temperature.”
If any of these cocksuckers could see beyond their own egos and greed, this world wouldn’t be as fucked as it is. We are NOT dealing with brain surgeons here. If any of them were capable of thinking LONG-TERM, they wouldn’t be doing everything in their power to destroy the whole fucking planet.
But then, if you ask them, Jeebus is gonna come back and rapture them all away, so why should they care about all of the murder, genocide, and destruction that they hath wrought?
It past time when these people were convinced that they will judged in this world and the next, and they are not going to be allowed to ignore laws and norms.
There are too many problems to be dealt with on a case by case basis, and every time you turn around, something else turns up.
I coming to believe that the only hope is to impeach them all to stop the bleeding.

So why haven’t any of our “public servants” gotten off of their asses and STARTED THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS, so that we can then bring them to CRIMINAL COURT?!?!?!
They are trying to bail out the ship of state, when they should stop these people from drilling holes in the bottom. I understand they are trying to pass laws and fix things, but this administration has no intention of letting them.
I think a couple of more stand offs and Pelosi and Reid will figure out they have to choice but to start impeaching people, if for no other reason to convince those they don’t impeach to start doing their jobs.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Pelosi talks tough, but she’s no Barbara Boxer.
I don’t think she’s the problem, I think it’s the Blue Dogs and triangulators who don’t have the stomach for a fight. They are running out of options, because the Shrubbery is continuing to push.
