Echidne writes about the Colorado “Personhood” movement at it again in The Egg Americans. They apparently intend to introduce this every two years.
A month ago I wrote about their efforts in Florida.
All that is required is money and a core group of obsessives willing to keep doing this until people stop paying attention, or the initiative laws are changed to stop this.

Ummm… PS: I think the phrase ‘batshit crazy!!’ far more adequately describes these complete lunatics far better rather than the merest euphemism of ‘weird’! It just doesn’t do them justice. And… spaking as one who is proud to be called *weird* (by a certain few anyway), I serously do NOT want to be in the same category as these morons. At least I’m not in the same country, I should be (and am) thankful for small mercies! 😉
Actually, Kryten, all of the smilies work, but the parser that detects them has a peculiarity that requires a CR/LF rather than just a space when you go from one that doesn’t use a colon to one that does. as you can see, it displays without the line feed, but you need it for the parser to work as expected.
There are people who actually think computers are intelligence. Programmers have a great con going.
Given how many people there are who run around believing in “Personhood”, I guess it is really not all that amazing.
This really isn’t about blastocysts. All these stupid buggers are concerned with is that people are enjoying having sex and women “don’t know their place”. They are really not at all different that the Salafi whackos like bin Laden and the Taliban. The fact that their supporters keep getting caught in “cemeteries with Viagra, sex toys and 18-year-old strippers” doesn’t seem to intrude on their world view.
