Friday Cat Blogging

Bogus picture!

[Editor: Ringo definitely doesn’t look like this at the moment. This is from last October, as it will be a while before she would be happy with a picture. The vet is satisfied with her progress, but the dental acrylic that is holding her broken bone in place won’t be removed for at least another month. She is gaining weight and now has the run of the bathroom, rather than spending time in the large cage. The antibiotics will be done in a couple of days, and the quantity of food is larger, but it is still liquid. The reason for the continued confinement is her preference for crunching on kibble, and she won’t be allowed to do that until the x-rays show the bone has healed.]

How much did she weigh back then? She didn’t exactly look fat…

She was at about 8 pounds in that picture, but weighed in at 4.5 when she went in for surgery. She’s back up to almost 6 so she still has a way to go. She got up to 10 inside, but lost weight when she stayed outside by running at full tilt and climbing everything in sight. She is a small cat, especially in comparison to her ‘kits’.

I hope it won’t be long efore things heal. I bet you have a frustrated cat on your hands

She has been quiet, but that will change as she starts to feel better. I hope I can get the outdoor area fixed up before that happens, or I will be using my Mother’s bathroom. 🙂

Whatever Ringo got herself into, I hope she doesn’t repeat the encounter when she returns to the outdoors.

At some point I will explain what happened, but I’m not ready yet. She will be safe, and much happier outside where she is in control. She won’t be able to climb trees or go above two feet, but things will move at her pace.

Since she’s back up to six pounds, it sounds like she’s getting better. Poor little girl. It sounds like she had one heck of a bad time.

Fortunately she didn’t hole up somewhere to heal, which is what the ferals do. She escaped tonight to see what the other cats in the house were eating, so I’m upping her rations to three cans/day.

Not being able to eat kibble is part of the problem. If I could just fill a dish, she would be able to eat whenever she wants to. I’m going to try soaking some Kitten Chow to see if that helps.

Hey Brian! Just dropped in to see what’s been going on and saw your post about your little friend. I’m so sorry that she had to go through all this. Hope she’s doing lots better.

Thank you, Juanita. She’s feeling better, but will be a whole lot happier when she gets to climb again and dash across the front yard in futile pursuit of doves, or blowing leaves.
