Most people have probably heard about the 8 teenagers who were involved in beating another teen senseless, so they could post the video of the beating on the ‘Net. The incident took place in Polk County, Florida, which is the home of Interstate 4 Jamming which has been following the case.
The Interstate 4 Jammer predicted at 7:15AM this morning that someone in the daytime sleaze media would get involved, someone like “Dr. Phil”.

The teen accused of masterminding a videotaped “animalistic” attack against a fellow teenage classmate is out on bond, and she has celebrity talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw to thank for it, according to a bail bondsman.
The bondsman told media gathered at a Polk County jail Friday that Dr. Phil posted Mercedes Nichols’ $30,000 bond.
When Nichols was released from jail, a man arrived and idenfitied himself as a Dr. Phil producer and ordered local media to leave the area because the Dr. Phil Show had exclusive rights to the story, according to reporters on scene.
Good call Jammer. Dr. Phil, you really need to see a shrink, because you are one sick puppy.

I have to think that this is how the Manson clan started, and some people want to profit from the sociopathy.
This is an an interesting twist – “Hi, I am a doctor, but I play a sick, soul-sucking jerk on television for big bucks.” It’s the new sideshow freak exhibit – “Laugh and deride the psychologically disturbed from the safety of your own home.”
I know one mental health care professional who will literally leave the room if Dr. Phil appears on the TV.
How can any person… entertainer, journalist, whatever… claim to have “exclusive rights” to cover a crime story?
Maybe they can do it somewhere else, but as the Sheriff explained when he was criticized for releasing the video of the attack, he had no choice, because under Florida law, it is public information and he would be violating the law if he didn’t release it. If the case had been handled as a juvenile proceeding, things could have been kept secret, but as soon as the prosecutor decided they would be tried as adults, nothing could be concealed until after the bail hearing.
Actually I’m not sure the individual hasn’t already violated her bail conditions by this association with Dr. Phil, and the bail may be forfeit. That is dependent on the judge. This won’t be tried in Polk County, a defense attorney would be crazy not to move for a change of venue, and the state likes to have these sensational cases tried outside the home counties.
