Food Update

CBS carries this Associated Press report: Importer: No Tainted Wheat In Human Food

The Chinese wheat gluten imported by ChemNutra Inc. all went to companies that make pet foods, Stephen Miller, chief executive officer of the Las Vegas company, told The Associated Press.

ChemNutra said it has recalled 873 tons of wheat gluten that it shipped to three pet food makers and a single distributor who in turn supplies the pet food industry. The company said the recall applied only to wheat gluten from Xuzhou Anying, one of its three Chinese suppliers of the ingredient.

Each bag of wheat gluten included content analysis and test results provided by Xuzhou Anying, ChemNutra said.

“The company is particularly troubled that the certificates of analysis provided by the above-named supplier did not report the presence of melamine,” ChemNutra said in a statement.

My, my, who could have imagined that a corporation might lie? I guess it would have been insulting to run your own analysis to find out what was in the bags you were selling. If you did that you might be liable when people’s pets died as a result of the poison you sold.

NBC is reporting that FDA urges laxer labeling on irradiated foods.

The government proposed Tuesday relaxing its rules on labeling of irradiated foods and suggested it may allow some products zapped with radiation to be called “pasteurized.”

I see, no need to tell the truth, we’ll just create another term to hide what is going on with our food because people might be concerned if they knew that their food was irradiated or cloned or genetically modified or contained the same chemicals as a counter top. No need to worry, we’re from the government and we are here to help you.

This is one of those times when people are really lucky that I no longer have the power to call in an air strike, because there really are some people involved in this who could benefit from a napalm attitude adjustment. No, I will harness the anger and direct it towards the elimination of live oak leaves.

Yup. Now would be a really good time to be able to call in an airstrike.

Would a beat-down with a four-way tire-tool suffice? ‘Cause even with the spinal issues, I could probably work up the fervor to dent a few heads. Just point me at ’em. Especially if you can get me to Poppy Bush’s hidden lair… ‘Cause he’s the “mastermind” behind all of this “let’s dissolve all regulatory agencies” shit (especially the FDA & EPA), along with Biggus Dickus, Fat Tony Scalia and all of their corporate-whore cronies, so why not start at the top?

And y’know, I never did get a copy of the Anarchist’s Cookbook — can you still make napalm with just gasoline and styrofoam?

They hire every loser with family ties and the ability to say “I luv W” and put them in charge of our lives. These are people who could get a job at McDonalds, and they are making decisions that can kill living things.

From now on we should test for food safety by having the head of the FDA eat suspect products. Let him/her become the food taster for the nation. Then it should be served at the White House.

I’m really tired of being treated like a lab rat by these people.

Yep…tis more than merely our civil liberties that are at risk from this bunch of mental cretins and incompetent cronyistic appointments in gov’mint positions.

I posted on a great WaPo article on just a few of these foxes posted for duty in the Hen houses! 😉

Karen, their performance ratings seem to be based on the number of laws they don’t enforce combined with the number of laws they break in the process.

Those poor live oak leaves! I hope there was no collateral damage…

Unlike most such things, I occasionally make a conscious decision to consume individual items of irradiated food. But I want to know about it and make that conscious decision. “Irradiated” is more than merely “pasteurized,” and we deserve to know the fact. I want to be able to limit the quantity of my intake, in case we find out something even worse about the stuff tomorrow. Of course that would never happen, would it? Yeah, right…

They keep telling me “it’s your money,” but they don’t want me to know what I’m buying.

Personally, I’d like to do to Dumbya what they did to the rats in the saccharine cancer tests.

Or, y’know, put him, Cheney, Gonzales, and every other family crony that they’ve handed a gubmint job (and lifelong pension, even if they get fired for corruption/ineptitude) into cages, strap their necks up, and funnel irradiated & sweatshop-manufactured food into the bastids until they burst. Then dip ’em in liquid nicotine.

Naw, just shipped to Diego Garcia and let them not believe in global warming.
