As promised, a picture of my mailbox with the lichen growing on it. It has a hell of a grip on the mailbox, which is really annoying given all the messing around I had to do to get the numbers to stick to it.
Note: a cat will show up later, if I can find one willing to come out of hiding.

i didn’t quite really believe you about the lichen. you sure there’s not a little double-sided tape involved here?
That’s what I don’t get – how did it even start? OK, that is the North side, but this stuff is normally on the bark of live oaks that have all kinds of crevices and nooks to grab, and that was a smooth metal surface.
