"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. Ouch.
People who know me, rarely accuse me of being a nice guy.
I like it! LOL

I am sure you left out “to those who don’t deserve it.” 😉 I’m the same.
How about one for the Blue Dog/Dixie Democrats?
It doesn’t require much contact with people, Kryten, to decide that the rest of the animal kingdom is more worthy of concern than homo sapien.
Let the RePUPlicans get their own art department, John. I’m not gifted beyond cut and paste.
dating advice from ann landers: never marry someone who’s unkind to animals and rude to waiters and waitresses. there are limitations to all rules of thumb, but i’ve found this one to be useful for classifying people in general.
obviously you fall into the ‘unkind to animals’ category, bryan, by conflating republicans and puppies. 😈
Hello!
Thank you 🙂
Hipparchia, RePUPlicans call themselves Blue Dog Democrats.
Thanks, Bryan! Where can I order mine? I find I have some extra cash on hand, since I’m withholding from the Democrats for awhile, awaiting the outcome of the Senate filibuster Obama promised.

I think for me Bryan, it was way too much contact with homo erectus that led me to the inevitable conclusion that even the deadliest of fauna is more worthy of my time, consideration and duty of care.
There are some exceptions. But they are few and far between, and have had some years to prove they are worth my time.
Talk is not simply cheap, but worthless.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”
Don’t hold your breath, John, some people like power and aren’t all that eager to give any away.
The test of a prophet is truth. If their predictions don’t come true they are as false as their predictions and shouldn’t be invited back on the telly.
The test has been around a few thousand years. I remember reading in a Book at some point.
