A lot of people seem fascinated because some junkie has health problems. If you abuse your body, you will have health problems, and burn up a lot of care that should be going to real people that deserve the access.
Thanks to the Hedgemony, a lot of older wealthy people are having to pay a lot of attention to their heirs. In 2010 there is no estate tax, so there’s a very large financial incentive to snuff people with large estates. As a bonus, most of the soon to be offed are probably Republicans.

He Sings
Meow, meow, meow, meow…
[Editor: I’m using an old picture of Vinnie because the batteries died as I was attempting to take a new one. Vinnie talks to me, which is very unusual for the ferals, The toms will howl at each other, but few of them actually vocalize at all. When I’m feeding them in the afternoon, Vinnie wanders around making normal cat meows. Oh, he still considers me the ax murderer, but meowing is odd behavior for the “pride”.

Given the prevalence of accurate timekeeping devices, it is amazing that the explosions that are supposed to signal the new year extend for a four hour period beginning before and extending well after the actual event. Anyone who thinks alcohol and gunpowder is a recipe for a long life should be avoided by insurance agents.
A new year and a new decade begun under a blue moon. There is always a chance that things will get better, but “hope” has a bit of a taint to it this year.
