"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

Now that is a “How Dare You” look!
Ringo is looking good these days…
She’s not sure, Jams, that freedom is actually a better deal than the concierge service she got while in confinement .. 😉
She has doubled her weight, as she only weighed 4½ pounds when I first took her to the vet for her jaw. Worms, dehydration, and not being able to eat really took her weight down quickly. She’s back up to 9 pounds which is normal for her, and the new flea stuff also combats worms and ear mites, so she is more comfortable. She now gets to chase her tail all over the yard.
ringo!
are you using revolution for fleas? that’s the only thing that’s working for my crew these days.
It’s Revolution, Hipparchia, and it seems to be dealing with everything. I had been using Frontline Plus, but it seemed to stop working this year. Bengal flea spray works a treat on the the carpet fleas and the litter boxes.
i’ve had good results with bengal too, though i can’t always find it in stores around here.
So is Ringo getting free reign over the neighborhood, or is she restricted to her outdoor cage area that you talked about earlier?
She totally free, Badtux. What I could do when she was weak and underweight is no longer possible. She wants nothing to do with enclosures, and I got sick of tripping over it in the dark. It is stored so that if I need it, I can erect it in short order, as it would be handy for ferals recovering from ‘the operation’. They get returned while still drunk, so they can be handled without unnecessary bloodshed. A day in the enclosure would give them time to sleep it off without worrying about them wandering into the road or being attacked by something when they can’t defend themselves. I was keeping them in a large dog cage, but it was far from ideal.
Awwww! She is such a cutie. I’m glad she’s gained back her weight. It always makes me feel better to see the kitties looking good!
I hadn’t heard of the Revolution product. I used Frontline with good results, until last year. I changed to Advantage, and it worked really well. This year, I didn’t have to dose the kitties except for once. I guess their friends didn’t come to the door as often, or maybe I didn’t have it open as much, since it was so darned hot. Next year, if we have a problem, I will try out Revolution.
Don’t try it on any cat with health issues, OWL, because it is potent. The cat has to be heavier than 5 pounds and in good health. It isn’t recommended for older cats.
Ringo is starting to rebuild her muscles by running like crazy all around the yard. It is much quieter inside these days.
The cat has to be heavier than 5 pounds
my vet occasionally has the <5lb puppy/kitten size available, which helps me out as some of my cats are smallish [tame enough to put flea drops on, too wild to take to the vet just for weighing], but they [my vets] don't officially offer it for sale.
Yes, I think I’m going to have to get a prescription and order it on the ‘Net because my vet is ‘recommending’ something else, and I don’t want to give up something that is working.
