What Kind Of Forecast Is This?
From the Weather Underground:
Thursday Night
Breezy. Mostly cloudy. Chance of snow in the evening…then slight chance of snow after midnight. Lows 25 to 30. Chance of snow 30 percent.
It’s going to warm slightly, so it can SNOW!
The high for the entire state today will be 59° at Key West!
The orange juice isn’t supposed to be frozen until after it’s in the can!
These people can’t drive in heavy dew, and they are going to get SNOW!
Update:
Sunday
Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Lowest wind chill readings 1 below to 9 above zero in the morning.
Wasn’t the deal hurricanes, but no freezing?

Yeah Bryan the Weather Underground is forecasting basically the same here for Thursday only a bit colder. I hope you at least have a warm blanket and a sweater. We do see snow on the odd winter but the people here panic regardless. The most dangerous thing are the people with 4 wheel drive who fail to remember that everyone has 4 wheel brakes and that stopping on ice and snow is no different for a 4 wheeler. They drive like maniacs.

LOL! I can’t wait for the report of you having ridden your bike in that wind chill.

Fallenmonk, if it really happens as forecast with rain turning to sleet which becomes snow, it is going to be impossible to use the bridges, which are “humped so boats can pass under. It will be wet snow on ice, and studded tires are the only thing that will stop in those conditions.
Alas, we both know that they are going to ignore reality, engage 4WD, and find themselves in a ditch or bayou.
Rook, you will be a very old man before I get senile enough to increase the wind chill factor by riding in these conditions. I leave them to the guy across the street who rides his motorcycle with nothing on his head. There’s nothing like frozen bits from your nose running pinging off your ears to make one a believer in full face helmets.
Actually, Mr. Duff, the problem is that the Gulf Stream may be shifting South from the melting polar ice, which invalidates all of the carefully kept records that are used to make forecasts, and were so important to the D Day landings. When you can no longer depend on the same data producing the same results, you have to rethink everything.
Your Met people have a very promising hurricane model, that might be quite important to the British Isles in the not too distant future. If the shift in the Gulf Stream has, in fact, taken place, you can expect the winters in southern England to resemble the “normal” winters in Scotland.
The Gulf Stream has moderated weather in Britain for centuries, and the results of a shift will be rather nasty.

damn straight it was.
If I wanted to shovel snow, I would move to Vermont. I don’t even want to think about the Three-Mile Bridge.
OT: I hope the big black dog is on the mend.
[thanks, i hope so too, and so does he]
i don’t have any bridges to deal with. yay! the years i lived out on the island were free of both hurricanes and frost [and no barges rammed the bridge either]. obviously there’s a connection there. obviously, y’all need to get to get together, pool your money, and buy me a house on the beach so i can once again deploy my all-protective powers. 😉

ot, fun with dyslexia… i just now saw the history headline in your sidebar 1944: operation carpetbagger — but read it as operation catblogger. i was all set to click on that link until the date sank in.

If I had anything on the beach, I would be happy to give it to you. I’m not a fan of beach life.
I was freezing my butt off in Death Valley last week. Death Valley. Freezing. Hell hath truly frozen over.

Nah, TMF was hangin’ out here at the penguin’s crib, waiting for me to come home so he could be a soft fluffy wuffy cuddle kitteh again. And isn’t that just the most disgustingly twee thing you ever heard?

This weather pattern just doesn’t want to give up. They keep extending the period. We need something big and nasty to push ashore on the West Coast to break up this wave.
twee-ness, it’s what cats inflict on their humans.

I think it’s a reaction to cat dander, or a side effect of cat nip fumes.
my guess would be the dander.
Well, it is more constant.
