Serendipity

The BBC reports that Omnishambles has been named word of the year by the Oxford English Dictionary. We used to say FUBAR [F***ed Up Beyond Any Recognition] in the military, but Omnishambles is more polite.

This was just in time as the Austerians have managed to push the Eurozone back into recession, just as John Maynard Keynes said would happen around three-quarters of a century ago. Omnishambles is useful in describing what Merkel et al. have done to the economy in Europe.

Hmmm! I just used FUBAR in my previous comment (and I hadn’t seen this post yet!) 😆 Coincidence… or not??! Hmmmm! 😉 😆

Meeeeehhh! I still prefer FUBAR (or, for those special occasions, ‘FUBAR! Big time!’ with a big thanks to the movie ‘Tango and Cash’, one of my fave’s!” 😆

Then again, my Grandfather always preferred SNAFU and wasn’t keen on FUBAR at all! Depends on the generation I guess. 😀

FUBAR tends to be stronger and more specifically targeted at something than SNAFU, which covers the constant daily annoyances, the mundane things that make people nuts. For example, Limbaugh saying something absurd is SNAFU, but the Romney campaign was FUBAR.

Per Krugman, Europe has unemployment averaging three or more percentage points higher than the US, and lower economic growth. What more could the Austerians ask for? [/snark]

Sarkozy is gone, so it is time for Merkel and Cameron to go with him.

The German people are starting to experience what it means when you force your customers into poverty, and I sincerely doubt they like it. Warren Buffet expressed his opinion that the Euro-zone is toast. That will be a real mess.
