Excuse Me?

While Kommander Kos and Duncan haven’t sent me instructions on this, I think I can respond.

From John Amato at Crooks and Liars this excerpt from an article by Chuck Todd of National Journal at MSNBC: “For some reason Pelosi has a terrible relationship with the liberal blogs. There’s a pretty decent chance liberal bloggers could start a grassroots effort to get behind Emanuel for speaker.”

Mr. Todd, FYI: on the “liberal” blogs “wanker”, “douche bag”, and “toady for the DLC” are not terms of endearment. The “netroots” have been raising money for people that Rahm Emanuel refused to help. The “netroots” like Dr. Dean’s 50-state strategy. We know that Emanuel talks tough, but so does the Shrubbery. He has triangulated himself into a corner and we can just ignore him, like he ignores people in districts that don’t “lean Democratic”.

Bill Clinton won his elections because he is a hell of a politician, not because of the policies of the DLC or the tough talk of Emanuel. The reason the Republicans haven’t tried to dump the 22nd Amendment is because Bill Clinton would run again and win.

Say WHAT?

Let this one liberal blogger go on record right now as supporting Speaker Pelosi. Rahm Emanuel never helped my cause one bit, and the notion that I would support him for Speaker is just plain crack-brained. Let Chuck Todd dream all he wants; it simply isn’t so. I can’t help suspecting Todd’s motives in saying that bit of nonsense.

Nancy Pelosi has paid her dues and done the best she could with what she had to work with. Rahm Emanuel has been a whiny hemorrhoid the entire year.

Possibly the only Democrat who would make a worse speaker than Pelosi is Rahm Emmanuel. He may be on the side of the angels, but he follows J. Dennis “I see nothing! I hear nothing! I know nothing!” Hastert’s playbook when it comes to running his organization. Another asshole in politics, we don’t need.

The guy is a jerk, and he certainly can’t pull together a majority for the Speaker’s job. It looks like a lot of people he wouldn’t support are going to be sitting in the House, and there’s no reason for them to give him what he didn’t give them. There are also a lot of people running who are not politicians, so things should get interesting.
