So, if all of those things are the problem, what the solution? You sort of need a government and an economy, so give us a hint.

Yeppers, Pope Panzerfaust decidedly prefers theocracy. Luckily he is 84 years old so we won’t have to put up with his senile old wrinkly self for long.
As for the religious states thingy in some American states, surely you meant to say “the religions enclaves AREN’T Catholic”? Given that you have these home schoolers and such who’ve basically turned some states into Jebusland, complete with laws mandating Bible study (King James version, none of that sissy Catholic Bible stuff!) in the classroom, laws that are not put into practice only because the Supremes danced on them?

Sorry about the dropped “not”. Actually the only reason it isn’t worse are all of the anti-Catholic Blaine amendments stuck into state constitutions. There are moves all the time that trip over the fact that getting rid of the amendments will release the “Catholic menace” to eat babies, or whatever they suspect Catholics of doing.
Without the evangelicals all of the small theaters that were driven out of business by the megaplexes would be vacant buildings. Locally it is nearly impossible to find a strip mall that doesn’t have a “church/temple/tabernacle” in it.
Don’t get involved with politics as you excommunicate politicians? He seems pretty confused by how the world works.
