"There are two novels that can change a bookish 14-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. Oh Belgium I missed the day! I must put it in my calendar…
It’s also Universal Day of the Jedi – may the towel be with you friends.
I have it marked and almost missed it as I assumed it was for Memorial Day [our version of Remembrance Day].
Mitch, if the “prequels” had never come out, I might be on-board with that, but they lost me with those turkeys.
aargh! i missed it!
oh well. while i loved the hitchhiker series, dirk gently’s holistic detective agency is still my favorite. i still harbor some resentment against doug adams for only writing two of those before he kicked off.
He was having us all on, but we knew it and loved it.
Sigh. Sorry I missed the day. But I did not forget my towel. It served me well yesterday, as it has many other days.
Like hipparchia, I really appreciated Dirk Gently, but Holistic and Teatime were just not enough… I wish Adams had lived to write more of them.
If you haven’t read the posthumous collection of Adams-related miscellany called The Salmon of Doubt, it’s well worth your time.
He was a truly funny man is a bent sort of way, but he appealed to my sense of humor.
I didn’t realize there was such a day. My towel is in the car. It’s not an especially bright or pretty one, but it will get the job done, no matter what is needed;)
That’s what towels are for, OWL, to get the job done. And that’s what people who have them do – throughout the universe.
salmon of doubt: just now added it to my to-read list. thanks for the tip.
