When Will They Ever Learn?
Because LIEberman [Likud CT] and his stooge Levin [Idiot MI] have promised them that this time the Shrubbery won’t pull the ball away, the 97 adults present in the US Senate voted to condemn Iran for unsupported allegation of possible acts that might be taking place, and began running down the field to kick that football.
Lurch at Main and Central in his post, Iran Delenda Est!, notes the similarity between these actions and the Third Punic War [You do remember Latin II, right? Vets do tend to collect wars.]. He links to Ian Welsh’s post at the Agonist, The March to War With Iran.
So far the “evidence” against Iran wouldn’t be acceptable on The People’s Court [Judge Wapner always wanted receipts] much less the UN Security Council, and a lot of it is obviously faked.
The Senate is embarrassing itself following the lead of a guy who apparently rode through Baghdad on a unicorn accompanied by leprechauns, instead of the Humvee and infantry company everyone else saw, and reports that the war is going amazingly well and the victory parade will be “real soon now”.
As Lurch points out, no one in their right mind thinks the world can afford the economic impact of an attack on Iran. It would have been nice if Cheney et al. hadn’t destroyed one effective source of information on weapons proliferation in the region by outing Valery Plame, but you go with the information you have, and there is no reliable verified intelligence that Iran is not acting in accordance with its reasonable national interests after some idiot decided to invade the countries on both sides.
