All You Wanted To Know

Hipparchia of Over the Cliff, Onto the Rocks has located a very useful site: the Physicians for a National Health Program Single-Payer National Health Insurance FAQ.

A group of doctors provide very straight forward answers to the questions surrounding a Single-Payer system.

Fundamentally, the problem which the people have is distrust in the government, and the Cheney administration has done everything it can to reinforce and justify distrust.

We need much more deep reforms than even health care, this is just the tip of an iceberg.

We cannot simultaneously elevate our standard of living while prosecuting an evil war.

One of their stated purposes is to prove that government doesn’t work, and it certainly doesn’t work if all you hire are incompetents intent on ripping off the system.

The war is going to make interest on the national debt the biggest item in the budget for decades.

i’m not at all sure they’re incompetent. they have very adroitly carried out their mission of dismantling [mostly] that part of the government that includes “by” and “for” the people, leaving in place pretty much only the “of” the people. in my not at all humble opinion.

Hipparchia, if they weren’t incompetent their tactics wouldn’t have been discovered until after they were gone. They can’t even use a “litter box” properly, forgetting to cover their crap.

Believe me, there are people who would like nothing more than to keep the US in a perpetual state of debt, because then the entire polity is controlled by the creditors. We may need a new currency before long.

that 97-0 iran vote suggests ,,, what?

the compromise on the war appropriations bill just a few weeks ago suggests … what?

impeachemnt is off the table suggests … what?

hillary clinton, john edwards, and god knows how many others not reading that now-infamous nie before voting to invade iraq suggests … what?

competent: 1. having suitable or sufficient skill, knowledge, experience, etc., for some purpose; 2. adequate but not exceptional.

in the peaceniks vs the warmongers, the hawks have shown themselves to be reckless, criminal, immoral, and downright evil, but i’m thinking they’re not the ones who have been incompetent.

First we hang the DLC, then we get down to business.

I have long felt that now that we have the capability, Congress should stay home and conduct business via a satellite hook-up. It would be harder to forget who you work for when you live among them. The equipment could be put in a FEMA trailer, to remind Congress of the facilities they provide for others.

It would also be cheaper and keep staff salaries in the districts. No more huge travel budgets or long distant calls to contact your Congresscritter. It would be a lot easier to keep track of them.

How about a blogger congress?

That’s a frightening idea, Whig.

FEMA trailers! They can have my FEMA trailer when they pry my cold dead body from it.

Those are the kind I want to give them to make the point, Hipparchia, the ones with the bodies in them after the next storm.
