Not Just Yappy Nuisances

Because no one writes enough about them, and Andante of Collective Sigh has been really busy lately: Tiny Chihuahua Saves Life.

In Colorado a chihuahua took several strikes from a rattlesnake that was threatening a toddler. The child was not hurt, the dog survived, no mention of the fate of the snake.

I feel sure that my cats would have at least watched if I were being attacked.

Who knows, your cats may have even applauded.

One of my chihuahuas – Pippin – is performing a valuable service. My mother was never a dog lover or would even have much to do with them. But as she sinks deeper in dementia, she has become very attached to little Pippin.

And he senses it….he curls up on her lap and ‘kisses’ her hands when the tremors strike.

there’s a lot of research that shows a pet is as good as a tranquillizer, helping to calm people and lowering blood pressure. The good ones have empathy with their humans.

in my world view, anything under 40 lbs is a barking hamster, but i have to admit, almost every chihuahua i’ve ever met has been that loyal and courageous, definitely a big dog in a little package.

My Mother’s miniature poodle terrorized her neighbor’s Doberman. Kelley went psycho when he thought his “rights” had been infringed upon and while he getting get very high, it was high enough if the other dog was male.

this would be why my dog is afraid of the little guys.
