CBS News shows its bias with the headline of the story: Dems Lose Fight To Aid Abortion Groups
(AP) Unable to override a promised veto, Democrats have backed down on their insistence that the 2008 foreign aid budget reverse President Bush’s ban on providing aid to family planning groups abroad that offer abortions.
…“This dogmatic adherence to an illogical position diminishes our influence around the world and prevents us from working effectively to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and unintended pregnancies and reduce abortions,” said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., chairwoman of the House State and Foreign Operations Appropriations subcommittee.
The Hedgemony refuses to fund anything except “abstinence only” programs, and disease and death follow.
As the Washington Post reported US states are rejecting grants from the Federal government for “abstinence only” programs. These programs don’t work, and the states don’t want to fund them.

It is the job of the Democrats to play the role of the Washington Generals. If they refuse to play that job then they must be described as such anyhow.
some of those programs are amazingly insightful. how could they not work?
If King George is so freakin’ concerned about “abstinence only”, we need to have proof that his daughters are virgins….as they are not married. One is engaged…and isn’t it interesting that she was yanked out of bed by her boyfriend (now fiance) at 4:00 a.m. to go hiking to watch the sunrise.
Makes you wonder if the two were sharing the same bed.

I don’t know why these things have to be included in the same species as the rest of us, as they are obviously aliens playing a role, Hipparchia. Real humans couldn’t be this ignorant about the thought processes.

This is another instance of Bush’s imposing his own theoretical religious beliefs on all Americans. I say “theoretical” because the consensus seems to be that Bush banged every good-looking woman in sight in his college days. Many religions are emphatically pro-sex: e.g., mine (I’m a UU), Hecate’s (she’s a Wiccan), and even (in its own way) Musing Michael’s (you’re still Catholic, aren’t you, Michael?). Many other religions are at least tolerant of sex in its many forms. In an America that held to its founding principles, those religions would be permitted their practices as surely as the more puritanical religions were permitted theirs. In supporting only abstinence-only programs through government mandates, Bush is using his raw power to violate the First Amendment.
Saying no to sex with Republicans has seldom been a problem for me. To my knowledge, there’s only one Republican, ever, whom I wanted. That was long ago, and I’d be willing to bet she has abandoned the GOP by now.
I was was going to say that we don’t have too many public restrooms in my area of Florida so I’m not apt to run into a Republican looking for sex, but that would be crass, and tasteless, so I won’t.
